It depends what type of fund it is. You need to make sure the fund isn't loaded with management fees. If you don't know much about investing I'd suggest using something like Wealthfront. Low cost, does everything for you including tax harvesting and earns more then CDs lol I'm just graduating (Last final ever is today at 5:45) with a degree in finance. I've focused mostly on the Investment Banking side but I do some investing of my own.. I don't have the time to run in depth analysis, so I'll stick to tech stocks (SQ, BOX, PSTG) and dabble into some healthcare stocks (Valeant and Theranos scandal caused a selloff--- Stocks like ENDP trading at significant discount) got into ENDP at $50 back up to $60.. I think it should trade around $70-80..

Hedge!!!
We are taught to use margin because we will have greater returns.
Im glad in not a fin major any more. It all seems like a big scam anyways and a lot of gambling.

And you will get sued if someone decides to go all Shkreli on your investments and you can't cover.
