Cool, now how about they give the Indians a turn at $69.99 and I’ll buy 3 sets.

Ah man, I think I ruined it for everyone. They put a max purchase of 20 on all the sets. Can't check to see how many are left. Booooooooooooooo.

The 20 max probably has as much to do with the 25% off coupon floating around as us checking to see how many are left now that I actually think about it. Coupon is a one time thing, they probably don't want to give a 10k discount if some monster order came in or something. If you want to order 20 sets 20 times or whatever, go for it.
But also, GTFO of our business you nerds had to have a little to do with it lol. |

Looks like I was right. Now that this has happened two years in a row, I wonder if it's intentional? An "easter egg" for those early buyers?

The Amed Rosario auto might turn out to be quite rare at the end, since I predict many people will refrain buying the auto set with that auto checklist.

What do you guys think the chances are that a Jeter card will be added into the Marlins set?

I was gonna pick up a Red Sox auto set this morning after I saw they were only $69 last night. See what happens when I wait and am lazy, I save money! I'm not paying $99 for a set lol #thankstopps
Edit: Actually I think they might've raised prices because they added the auto subjects who are Devers, Sale, and Pedroia. I might rethink this now lol, I wouldn't mind getting Sale or Pedey if it isn't a Devers. I just wish they had images of all the cards up. Last edited by vanpatten; 02-16-2018 at 07:29 AM. |

Do you think the players sign the ROTD auto cards during spring training or is this going to be a long wait for an auto set? What happened last year on the ROTD auto sets?

For frame of reference, last year my RTOD set shipped on 7/20! Find a comfy seat, might be a while. So basically it took a month longer than the stated deadline. People were upset so certainly they made things up with the playoff sets....wrong...at 20 weeks and counting for some sets.

Again, this is so ridiculous and shows the lack of leadership at Topps. There's no reason they can't spend the first week gathering player images and designing cards, spend the following week printing just the auto cards and then you have 3 weeks to send two teams of employees to both Arizona and Florida to obtain autographs. Ship the cards in April. Sure maybe they'll run into some snags with a few players, but they still should be able to ship out 90%+ in April.

![]() Besides I don’t want to take the opportunity of owning one of the 756 sets from other Phillies fans. So I bought only 4 (without using the code), so I’d get one of each autograph if there was a run on the sets and saving the code for a larger purchase of unautoed sets closer to the deadline. If I decide they are a good investment. Last years RTOD was...not so sure this years will be. Don’t get me wrong the sets are fun and the most awesome baseball set for team fans. But I think they will be way overprinted (for Topps Now standards)

I'm probably not going to touch any autograph sets.
But buying base card in bundle with discount should work out well, if thinking about re-selling. 5 set bundle @ $180 x 75% (25% discount) = $135, meaning $27 per set 10 set bundle @ $350 x 75% (25% discount) = $262.50, meaning $26.25 per set (5 set bundle and 10 set bundle don't have much difference in price if you look at it this way) I'm assuming that you can sell the set for around $40 shipped, and assuming that some of the popular teams will be easy to find the buyers. Not much profit anyways, but still should be able to make $5 per set or something even after fees and shipping deducted. But again, I'm also not sure if I want to pay $262 upfront to try to make $50 (which is uncertain at this point). Just a thought.

(Those who think Now cards are not a good investment) Read Joe Orlando’s article on Topps 1984 PSA Set. The best or most sought after card is #8
“Of the 8,979 "Donnie Baseball" cards submitted, there have been 524 PSA 10s. These PSA 10s have been selling for about $100 each.” 8979...just graded with PSA. Then look at the number of Judge’s SP in 2016 (1100) or his 2017 RTOD RC....(306). Not saying Judge is Mattingly but nearly any rookie in these first few Now sets are going to be way hard to find...even if everyone grades Gem Mint. So I am leaning towards this 2nd RTOD offering being a decent investment...and less of a gamble then 2017’s was...

I just received the Trout promo card. It was shipped in a PWE w/ no penny sleeve top loader or any type of protection. Luckily it seems to be mint. Looking forward to another exciting year of Topps Now.

As far as the base set being worthless...it is the Indians so you will get no argument from me but then I’m not an Indians fan. But if you look at the last Indians RTOD, I think the set holds up well at $45. You have a strong point about the autographs in this set though...buying 3 gets you the good rookie (who’s autograph is already out in Series I) and two very common Topps Now autographs. Only a fan hoping for a /10 or lower would buy it most likely (FYI, Topps Now’s target is collectors / fans with these and not dealers...though a savvy dealer might do well on these) others could wait for flippers and most likely complete the set at or below cost. Or could they? Even with autographs last year only 181 Indians sets were made. Say that is even lower this year? (I expect it will be if fans like you are weary), Then not only are the base cards (a little) more expensive but the autographs harder to find. God forbid you don’t buy as a fan and your team, gets a bonus and the PR is under 100 (just think Wil Myers). You’ll pay out the nose for those I have no doubt. To me my Phillies were a no brainer but I’m a fan and a fan of the set over other sets...so i’m very biased. Totally understand you not buying and your reasons but I think you may regret it. Also from Jeeves “The plan is to try to ship as many as possible in April.”
