Backtracking........

It appears you are mostly voting against Hillary then voting for trump as your only arguments against Hillary and not for Trump. This is what is wrong in American politics.

Watching the Republican National Convention is sickening. To hear the hatred spewed disgusts me. Don't worry...I am sure Democratic National Convention will spew just as much.

It's sad that the two parties running for president only talk how bad the other party/person is, rather than discuss what they want to do to I improve our country.

The fathers of this country are rolling over in their graves.

The GOP has the ears of the common folks. Tired of eight years of special interest groups, inaction and a onslaught of Executive Orders than never went to Congress.

But main isuue in politics in our country is... two party system. And it seems like a third party can't break in.

Everything is set up for just the two. From media to actual voting. Two parties.

Currently, here is your choice:
Hillary or Trump.

I know Hillary, so I go Trump. That simple.
To me, anyway.

Trump is not the best out there, but better than a Clinton.

Let's say they were placed intentionally.

So what?

This.

All day this.

We are the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE FREAKING WORLD yet there is such a divide between our "leaders."

I am reminded every day why I stay far, far, far away from politics.

The last President I voted for was Reagan....the greatest this country has ever seen.

After the November 2014 elections 42% of registered voters identified as Democrat. 41% identified as Republican. That is remarkable. Even more remarkable? Democrats are frequently lauded for trivial accomplishments while Republicans are vilified for trivial indisgressions. I have never understood the indisputable media bias that exists. If nearly half the country identifies as a Republican, and the media are all about ratings, why would you intentionally skew your coverage towards the other party unless of course you had an agenda.

Follow the money. It is a fact that the vast majority of donations from media elite go to Democrats.

1. "A vote for a third party candidate is really a vote for Evil Candidate X!" is only true if you live in a SWING STATE.

Because our president is selected via the Electoral College and not a popular vote, your vote is already basically wasted if you don't live in a swing state. If you live in...

- Ohio
- Colorado
- Iowa
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- Virginia
- Florida

...then yes, your vote does matter and voting for a third party could tip the scales toward a candidate you especially despise. HOWEVER, if you live ANYWHERE else, your state is basically already decided as far as who will pick up its Electoral College votes. This means that literally every single vote the losing candidate receives is wasted and every single vote over 50% the winning candidate receives is wasted.

It's a really messed up system because it means that roughly ~40% of voters in 43 states are irrelevant.

2. Ok, so a crap ton of votes are wasted. But still, 40% of 43 states wouldn't be enough to elect Jesus or John Lennon if they ran third party, so what's the point?

The point is (and sooo few Americans know this) that if a third party can garner just 5% of the national vote, they will receive public campaign funding assistance AND a spot at the 2020 presidential debates.

So even if voting Libertarian, Green, Constitutionalist, etc. won't change the 2016 race, it could have huge effects on the 2020 race. Not only that, but I'm guessing most of us here are sick of the partisanship. Most might not prefer Libertarian or Green proposals, but having a middle voice could substantially help moderate the main parties. Something which would benefit all Americans.

Just my $0.02 as an American Government teacher and while I'll be voting for the future this fall when I vote (as a Texan) third party.
It's sad that this post was glossed over. Facts and a sensible assessment for the "wasted vote" crowd. Then again, Fox News, HuffPo, etc aren't telling these facts so they're useless...

CNN watched more than Fox News because channel 202 CNN closer to
Channels 206-215 (ESPN, NFL network, MLB, NHL) than
Fox News 360.

Could we let Imac7065 back where he can only comment in this thread? I know 50 of us would get suspended, but this thread is way short on insanity.

Fox News Channel ratings top all cable networks for first time | Fox News

Unless you are talking about your household.

And I'm pretty sure Oreilly's show plays a huge part in that. His ratings are huge.
