My best friend asked me before the season how I thought the Twins would do. I said they would be much improved and could possibly compete for a Wild Card spot if their starting pitching was consistent. The main reason why I said this was because of the new manager. When the Red Sox got a new manager, they went from last in the division to World Series champions, so I thought that Molitor could have a similar impact. But even saying all that, they are still performing better than I thought they would.

Bats are hot today. We're in the 3rd and right now only 2 twins don't have a hit (Dozier and Hunter)

Sorry I made a thread without thinking to post here, thanks to a member for letting me know.

But, here's what it was:

Twins are coming up into the break with a very impressive first half no one expected. My goal for them this season were to compete and hopefully be around .500, which had far exceeded my expectations.

Needs: need relievers. They have been so inconsistent, gotta make a move. Any FA's available? Feliz would have been a great flier.

Mauer has finally started to hit and having him on a roll seems to energize us even more. Doze has pretty single handedly kept up in contention. Sano looks like a vet with his approach, and Buxton (yes has struggles early) will give us some more energy and production hopefully.

Trades: need to trade Plouffe for relievers. Could we get an Addison Reed, McGee, Street or Casilla type reliever? Possibly. Gotta trade him sooner rather than later.

Projections: don't know if we can secure a Wild Card spot yet, but can happen . Our starting staff needs to keep putting up great starts and Mauer, Doze, Sano, Hunter and Bux need to keep performing.

Loving this right now, just need the Royals to get into a slump.

Also, hearing Dozier made it into the All Star Game makes me extremely happy

They lost today, so we're just 4.5 games out now. Greater thing is to see the Tigers fall down the standings- They're 8 back now

It would be fantastic to get the win today heading into the AS break. Would put us in a really great spot to start the 2nd half

Gibson has really turned it on this year, he was so hit or miss last year.

Like I've said, all Gibson needs now is consistency. He's looked lights out at times, but other times has just looked awful. He's gotten better again this year, but still could use a bit more consistency. Regardless, I've happy with how he's progressed

Dick and Bert just mentioned that only the Royals have a better record in the AL than the Twins. I know we've been hot lately, but I didn't know we've been doing that well! I had assumed we had dropped down to top 5 or so
