Thanks. It's when you submit a card at a certain level like bulk(max $199), standard(max $499) or express and the card exceeds that level's max value. I submitted at standard which is a max card value of $499 which mine exceeds. Thus the upcharge.

Jewcer runs them on this site and always has this posted in the OP.

Upcharges - If you are in bulk and get upcharged to standard it will be a $15 upcharge. If you are in bulk and get upcharged to express it will be a $70 upcharge. If you are in standard and get upcharged to express it will be a $65 upcharge. If you are in express and get upcharged above that it will be a $160 upcharge.

Anyone good player can score 30 points in the NBA. What you don't see is 15 boards and 17 dimes to go along with those points in the same game.

Could he put up 50 points if he wanted to?

Sure, but he may only have 5 assists. I'll take the 3 dimensional player over the one dimensional player every time.

Thank you for the explanation!
So you paid an additional $65, right?

May I ask how long the submission took, from you shipping it out and getting it back?
Does PSA has any options for faster grading?

Looking at PSA to grade some cards, but do not know where to start;
Thank you for your time and help!

Correct. From the time he sent them in to PSA and by the time they came back it was from 11/26 to 1/7. It varies though as sometimes there are issues which hold up the grading process. Sometimes later submissions pop faster than previous ones. The one I sent was for a standard submission. Hope that helps.

I still haven't bought anything in awhile. I was going to buy a case of Select but the person/website i found wanted me to send PayPal friends and family. So that didn't happen as there is no buyer protection with FF. I'm still trying to determine what to buy because everything is really expensive.

I know these are both expensive choices but if you could which would you buy between these 2? Both products are 2018-19.

A case of Select for $5150 or a case of Optic Hobby for $6200?

This would be a medium to long term hold, 5-10 years or more.

I already have some Optic but no Select. I'm trying to see it from the best potential value/investment standpoint.

I've even thought about buying Obsidian or Chronicle's hobby as well as they are more affordable, around $3000 case. But im not sure about their long term value or how desirable they'll be. What case would you buy if you could?

Tough calls. I wouldn’t buy Obsidian or Chronicles. They don’t really stand out enough.

Optic provides a better floor than Select because of the base. But Select makes up for it with the potential for numerous huge hits. Especially $1000 cheaper.

I am one of 18-19 Optics biggest fans and I could not imagine spending $6200 on a case of it. I can’t imagine be a buyer of the case in 5-10 years. Outside of a Luka Gold or a Lebron Gold, there is nothing left to be pulled that could get you half your money back.

All of that being said, I think you are more likely to find a buyer for optic down the road than a buyer for select, regardless of your purchase price... so my vote is optic

Yeah i know it's pricey especially having bought some for last years prices. Which i did i would just like more of something. I look at 19-20 prices and then look at 18-19 i go hmm...not so bad (sort of). I always miss the deals on retail so that hasn't really been an option either. I just wish 19-20 wasn't so damn expensive. I'm really wondering what will happen next year. Hopefully hobby box prices don't remain hi-jacked going forward. That would be a shame.

Yeah I hear you and agree with all of the above as well as your theory about sellers sitting on piles of 19-20 product that isn't going to sell at current asking prices. They will either have to spend money on bigger warehouses/storage or lower the prices and move the product to create space for new product. You say it will be the later and I agree with that! Buyers are becoming more disciplined with their money and know what products to save up for and purchase. Products like Hoops/Donruss/Spectra/etc and just going to sit and collect dust unless the prices drop. Even products like Prizm/Optic/Revolution will start collecting dust as the return on these boxes is so small as more and more product comes out.

I got this in yesterday. I’ve always loved this card because of the overall look, so I had to snag a “PSA Fine Nine”:

For the price, I really love Chronicle's hobby.

I bought a case of 18-19 Optic Hobby near the release date last year, and I believe I paid around 1200.00 for it, and even then I thought I might have paid too much....but seeing how much they're going for makes me happy I didn't bust it yet.
