I'm more confident now with the Nets losing LMA and Kyrie/KD's injury problems.

Still, they are 3rd in line and look to be out in the 2nd round. But crazier things have happened.

Court Kings stuff has been really looked over recently. Tons of deals.

Some really nice cards. I'm watching the Hoops base and the Nameplates. Nameplates are probably going to jump way past my comfort level though. This one is insane. Giannis Nameplate P

Giannis with chance to score 12K points fouled with 6.8 seconds left misses the 1st makes the 2nd so now stuck on 11,999 points. So Saturday if Giannis can manage to score 12 points he will also become 2nd in team history in scoring passing the Big Dog.

Not a card I’m personally a fan of, but you and I both. His market as a whole continues to present buying opportunities left and right for those who believe in him long-term.

I'm not actively buying or selling Giannis right now unless a reasonably priced RPA comes up, but wow I can't believe his stuff is still falling. POP on that card is only 2544 so it's not like the "overproduced" narratives hold up on it like it does for Ultra Modern. I feel like everyone has written him off for both MVP or ever winning a title, but to me they're still in my top 5 contenders this year, and he's basically rocking the same stat line he did for the past 2 years when he won MVP. Might have to add him back to the search, what should I grab beyond Prizm / Select? I still want a rookie auto but I think most of the designs that year don't look good, the only things I've thought about buying are the Next Day or Immac RPA, any other on-card autos I should be looking for?

I think this has a lot to do with it. I know i've written him off for both. I don't think this team in it's current construction is going to win it all, that's not on him but it does sour peoples perceptions. As for MVP, he should definitely be in the discussion, but unfairly voters and media are bored. They want to tell new stories and create new narratives.

I picked up both recently (Next Day + Immac) and don’t think you can go wrong with either.

It really depends on budget, but as you mentioned, there is not an endless list of ‘nice looking’ Giannis rookie auto’s so the options are fairy limited.

I personally like NT, Flawless, Immac (be careful of altered copies), Next Day, and Gold Standard (though I don’t own any of these) for on card options.

As much as I’d like to disagree, I’m with you here.

He’s putting up MVP numbers again but the fact you’ve heard little to nothing about him in the media tells all you need to know that he’s going to be overlooked this year due to voter fatigue.

As far as the team goes, they’re definitely not ‘out of it’, but I’m not looking at them as favorites by a long stretch. If they’d pull out an impressive run in the playoffs or a finals appearance this year I’d look at that as a tremendous added bonus as I’m not counting on or expecting it to happen.

Having said that above, with the continued drop in his prices, I am personally starting to buy with both hands because I do look at him as a ‘blue-chip’ type of player, and if I’ve learned anything during my time in the hobby or in the finance world it’s that you buy ‘blue-chip’ assets during any and all dips.

I think this more has more to do with where the market is headed rather than Giannis as a player.

Market desires (what type of cards people chase) are always more important than what a player does on the court. Giannis can win a title and FMVP, but if people shift off from base Prizms that card will still go down.

I'm still old enough to remember the summer of 2016 when the shift TOWARDS Prizm started. The players weren't the driving force behind the shift, just general market sentiments for those specific cards.

I think after a solid 5 year run on Prizm the tide is shifting the same way it did for mid-range autos in 2016. Everything is chromium now. It's shoved down our throats daily from a card perspective. I can't search ebay without 90% of the cards being chromium.

I believe the above to be a bigger factor in Giannis Prizm prices moreso than who he is as a player. The cards always matter more than the player. Without even looking I'd bet stuff like his:

-NT RPA
-Immaculate RPA
-Court Kings Level IV
-Stained Glass

These types of things probably haven't lost any value and have all gone up. I think the market is shifting into more of that stuff currently. Giannis doesn't have many stellar RC cards unfortunately, so I think things like meaningful sets from his post rookie year will hold an even bigger premium for Giannis than other players, similar to how big insert sets for MJ hold premiums over his #57.
