The Pelicans will get better as the season goes on...they need to improve on the defensive end as well as down the stretch in the 4th quarter...Zion will get in better shape too.

so one thing I still can't figure out is the roster construction. with a dominant paint scorer like Zion, it would make sense to build a team similar to how you would build around Giannis. Get a stretch big next to him to give him space (Lopez), knockdown shooters all around (Middleton, formerly Hill, most guys can at least shoot a little). New Orleans has loaded up on other bigs that can't shoot (Adams, Hayes) AND guards that can't shoot OR create by driving and drawing attention (Lonzo, Bledsoe).

Now, I suppose you can justify a couple things:

Adams is a really solid big who can relieve some wear and tear on Zion until he figures things out, and came over as part of the Holiday trade. The 2 year extension shows that they are basically viewing the next 2 years as a growth period for Zion & BI, and will likely look for more ideal pieces next year or the year after.

Lonzo has a nice connection with Zion on the outlets and alley oops, but isn't a good PnR point guard, or a consistent outside shooter. It's also the last year of his contract and they can easily replace him with a better shooting PG, I can see most PGs salivating at getting to play with Zion

Bledsoe is terrible. Same thing as Adams in that he came over in the haul for Holiday, but man it's a long 2+ years left on that contract.

I never liked the Hayes pick, he doesn't help Zion by covering for him on the defensive end, nor does he stretch the floor. Even worse, looking at who they could have had in that spot - Rui, Cam, Cam, PJ, Herro... literally any would have fit better than Hayes, especially Reddish or Herro. Can you imagine the perimeter length they would have had with Lonzo / Reddish / BI? Or Herro / Zion pick and rolls? ugh. hopefully they can do something with all the picks and expiring contracts they've piled up

Agree with most of this. But, it's only game 2 with basically half a revised starting roster. I'm willing to at least see how they progress/mesh in the first month. Bledsoe is terrible though...he'd make a GOAT free safety.

Here's my current Zion stash. I also have a couple incoming and a Spectra base PSA 10 in my PWCC vault. I learned my lesson on Luka about selling too early. I've been selling some higher end Zion's at profits to lock in most of these at no-cost.

I've decided to invest some in Zion as I just don't see a universe that doesn't involve a bad injury where his cards aren't far more expensive by season end. That said, I pulled a Silver Hoops Premium of his this week and was wondering if I would be better off moving it to buy something else of his as there will be more that come out in subsequent weeks that apply downward pressure to that specific cards price. Thoughts?

zion a buy let's go , no matter who you choose to invest into there are always unforseen injuries just take a look at Luka , Giannis , Durant etc.. most super stars have been injured at some point on their careers, I'm all in on Zion with some good money invested into his cards he defenently looks in much better health compared to last season, he moves faster, quicker and not looking tired and exhausted as he did last season, remember guys lebron came into the league not knowing how yo shoot, he was flashy, dunker etc. But he learn and the pelicans do have good coaches and I'm sure that zion is working on his form and will get better , lastly he will slim down for sure as he keeps playing and unlike collage where they don't give you a nutritionist I'm sure that the team will assigned one for him if they haven't done so up to this point, but Z does need to loose some more weight to 260 lb and stay there so he can put less wearon his knees , he will not be young 20s for ever so he needs to planned a head for a long productive career, some people will hate some won't its the nature of the beast , now where do I share my 100+ Zion pc.

Exactly this.. may need someone to find the clip, but.. when their offense went stagnant they posted Zion up and immediately 3 Heat jerseys surrounded him. Zion kicked it cross court to the corner for an open 3. How they didn’t go back to Zion posted up even once for the rest of the game baffles me

Personally think Hoops Premium prices will continue to rise. I've been watching this closely since release and singles as well as sets/wax are slowly creeping up. I have been investing in this set because of this reason.

Just picked up a Ja Silver last night that I'm stoked to have. The cards are super pretty. Wish the Zion photo was better but I'd recommend holding unless there's something you really want you know you could get in the price range of selling the silver.

I really wish I had bought at least one Zion Courtside base when they were in the 800-900 range for a PSA 10. I think Luka's Courtside base 10's were around 4-5K at the time and I remember thinking Zion's could be in the same range within a year easily. Sigh

I love the Select Concourse card. I wish I would’ve grabbed a couple sooner, but was pretty happy getting a really nice raw and an SGC 9 for $151 shipped (2 separate orders). I think the select cards are a great value still, even after the recent spike for Zion.

So great to have basketball back, go Zion!

Same here. I just wanted a raw one and they were getting in the $250 range for a period of time and I should have pounced. I did add a base and fast break Prizm of the Premier version but for what I paid combined for those I wish I would have added the courtside instead.

I had a few and wish I would have kept one. Sent 1 to PSA and consigned it when it came back a 9. Dealt another one in a trade. I do, however, still have my Select Silver Prizm PSA 10. Hope to hang onto that one for a while.

So I'm watching the pre-game warmups, and Zion is cheesing 24/7 and dapping up teammates like they just won the 'chip. Something we never really saw last season. Seems like he's regained his passion for the game. I really think the Ronald Jeremy signing was invaluable for his morale and confidence.
