Maybe those guys agreed to sign a very limited amount of items.

They marked up until the base card (shady practice IMO) and this is a big chase along with some different parallel(s) so they are making plenty

Congrats to team USA, France and Serbia -- the players gave it their all and should be proud

An all time, all time work day

Had a seat, a very good one, for the second half thru medals

Get back to my hotel a little after 1am, get a text from a guy I know who works with USA basketball at 2am asking if I want to come to the player hotel party so I immediately head that way on foot

Saw KD, Embiid, Tatum, Booker, Jrue, Bam, White, as well as all the coaches and execs. Did not see Lebron, Curry, Ant, AD, Haliburton

Absolutely unreal

Congrats USA Gold and LeBron 2024 FIBA MVP. It was amazing watching Curry, LeBron and KD still all playing at a world-class level. And cool to see them all on the same team together. I know they all have their haters, but these all-time legends will be greatly missed when they are done playing.

What's the all-time record? The Judge or Bernie? I think those were around 90-92K.

Yeah for Topps Now cards I believe it's still this Ohtani card when he signed with the Dodgers last December - PR of 107,541. Judge is 2nd (91,685) and then Bernie (91,169).

I'm a big Panini Instant fan, FWIW. Like I said, Double A's only card these past few years. Course he is willingly sharing (distant) real estate with Myles and Obi in a semis Bruh dunk card.

ah let me dig it up....

I see the marketing strategy, they were gonna sell Ty in the role of heel, only that fell flat cause, in the climactic moments no one cared about Haliburton, except to worry.

A few thoughts about this card... I like the Versacolor /5 variation, I think it's one of the few that's more valuable than the gold. It pops like a subdued, trop cracked ice.

The headline is totally facetious, as that must have also been the second loss in a row, that tied the series at 2-2. (or were they counting from the 76ers' series, which is also facetious). Probably why no one bought this card. They really didn't like Indiana or Brunson there for a NY second. I mean, Midwest investors did.

Photo selection, meh: it does really illustrate why Hali was on the Team USA bench, he's got no traditional defense, so sometimes he comes off like a toreador. I think though with JJ, Nesmith & co. he has been working on the jujitsu aspect of D and ball strips, and he does have good RRH (reach, reads, and hands).

The other three are just working it. Though they are well behind you can tell they are not giving up, cause they getting in rhythm for a blindingly fast offensive counterpunch. Looks like Nesmith is coming back from a layup or dunk. He started out the furthest behind but he will be in front when the next play commences. A lot actually going on in the best Instant cards.

Instant's player and shot selection is totally limited and meh to me. It will come out years later, that needing to support stable industry prices and consistent fresh product supply in a limited number of "hit" slots, they had long term arrangements with distributors on who was featured on cards, and that probably filtered down to the sides of auto, instant, and mem deals. No one wants to be the executive who lost LeBron. Of course it helps if you have identified the next LeBron.

Does Topps Now have recent in-action shots? Or is that reserved for Stadium Club (remember when that set first came out). To be honest, not digging the fanatics Topps aesthetic. Although that triple auto. The only thing that stood out about the Paris game, other than LeBron taking it personal, was how cool it was to see Steph and Durant play together in rhythm and have fun. Might watch again.

That was a great tournament for the basketball lover!

I really enjoyed the extra physicality and overall quality of gameplay.

Had to agree with little Stevie Kerr when talking about Book being the 'unsung MVP'. He was really good throughout. Same with AD. I think Kerr did a very good job considering the challenges and ultimately made the correct distribution of roles and minutes. It was interesting to see who he trusted as stakes increased in the Knockouts.

Great tournament for LeBron. I suspect it gave most people who don't enjoy him the last chance to really appreciate his greatness on the court.
Something Lebron has struggled with (to varying degrees) throughout his career but more specifically Lakers onwards is clutch shooting...

Step in Curry, he was pretty crap until those last two medal round knockout games. Two wild clutch 3 point shooting displays closed the door on Serbia & France. Its debatable whether USA could've won without it.

Other things I enjoyed -

Durant's game.

Antman's game.

Watching an old school power player like Yabusele ball out.

The dunk on LeBron.

Serbia vs Australia.

Development of Wemby & Giddey.

Wemby getting some insane experience! He had his best game in the Final. I wish he worked on a hook shot, push shot because it would be unstoppable. Should be working with the Dream moreso than Crossover but that's modern NBA. (It is nice when his 3 ball splashes with that release.)

I really think they need to expand the amount of teams, perhaps another pool or an extra team per pool.

I wonder if Silver took any notes?

Bron’s mvp performance in a 6 game season also checks out. It’s unfortunate for him that the NBA season is 82 games……otherwise he could be mvp every year until he’s 50.

I agree, a very entertaining and intriguing tourney.

However, anyone could have coached this team to gold, even though I’m a Kerr fan. He wasn’t going to toot his own player as MVP in any situation.

Curry had the most iconic and impressionable tourney.

Embarrassing if the women lose this game.

That said, A'ja Wilson is very good.

I’ve watched some of the game, terrible basketball all around. No wonder no one watches women’s basketball unless Clark is playing. Can’t dribble, pass or shoot.

Yep, that includes Wilson. She was great at the line. 6-14 from the field when all your shots are in the paint isn't that great. Happy the women squeaked out the gold.

it's like an out-season tournament

relatedly, Nate Silver is putting Steph Curry in his top 10 (who does he squeeze out though, or is it like a 3-way tie for 10th

My 6-10 guys are in no particular order:

Wilt, Shaq, Bron, Kobe, Bird.

Who has Curry bumped out? IMO no one yet unless he wins one more NBA ring.

Gotta be a millennial click bait article.
