I can agree there are better ‘short-term’ buys, but there’s a short list of players who have the potential of Giannis (not mentioning the achievements already under his belt), and to me it seems the guy wants nothing more than to win.

I am not nostradamus, none of us are, but I’d personally be shocked if he didn’t have 2+ rings and another MVP or two before all is said and done. Until I see someone else with a higher likelihood at that resume I’m going to stay extremely bullish.
not over for him in the nba, but hobby love wise its a different story

being stuck in MI does no favors as no stars wanna go there to team up

If there was ever a thing as “built in loss”, we’re seeing it. Select, Hoops, Prizm all hitting 3 month lows on cardladder. Pretty wild stuff considering I think they have as good a chance as anyone right now. Lakers looked underwhelming last night, Brooklyn Big 3 has barely played together, and I’m not a believer in Philly. I haven’t bought anything lately but think the market is completely sleeping on him. Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks once playoffs actually start

I understand the difference between NBA and hobby love but I still disagree.

If the 'hype train' and hobby love ends for someone who doesn't win a ring by 26 then explain MJ/LeBron/Curry/Durant/etc. to me.

I'd LOVE to have had this level of hype/press around the hobby and these forums specifically back when those guys were at Giannis' age. I cannot fathom the amount of 'hot takes' we'd see being brought back to life.

Time will tell. I'm honestly tired of debating theoreticals because none of us know, but saying it's over for him in any capacity is almost laughable.

Also, I assume you mean WI, not MI.

This is exactly why I've been buying, and I am not even in the camp of believers that they'll pull it off this year.

These forums and any 'investment' type forums / platforms make me laugh.

I bought a boat load of AD when he was in NO and his cards were 'dead' because everyone said 'he'll never got hobby love'. His team sucks, he can't win, etc. etc. etc. He got traded to the Lakers and that day moved probably 25% of what I had of his and covered the cost of the other 75% that I held. You know who I presume were buying these cards from me? The same ones who talked him down because he was now the 'hot' player.

Do people not understand basic economics, and that the time to buy blue-chip stocks/players/crypto/art/coints/etc. is when the hype is AWAY from them, not ON them?

To summarize my last two posts:

- I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have no idea if Giannis' hobby hype/love/etc. will go crazy again. I just cannot stand when people make definite statements on what's 'going' or 'not going' to happen based on future events. You don't know sh**, we all have opinions, but that's all they are.

- I do not actually believe the Bucks will pull it off this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm planning on this being a 'Hot Giannis Summer' for buying (cringe, I know).

- I do believe in Giannis long-term. Time will tell if that will pay off, but regardless, I'm happy to always hold a handful of big Giannis' because I'm a collector of his first and foremost being (originally) from Milwaukee.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I believe Giannis’ market and hobby future is basically ONLY dictated by playoff success at this point. He has proven to be a regular season monster and placed himself into the modern day all time great conversations but the reality is for him to reach the upper echelon of the NBA and hobby world he will need a ring or two.

Luka will find himself in the same boat in about 2-3 years as well.

You can compare him to MJ and Lebron and Curry and KD as to when they won their rings but thats a tough sell at this point because the world and this industry has changed so much. Its now daily, not yearly.

I look at Giannis as to where AD was when he was in NO. No major FA was going to NO as they probably wont be going to MIL. AD needed to take a hit on his character to get out of NO so he can link up and get a ring.

I know Giannis is a team first do it alone no friends guy but in todays NBA he needs a big time star like a Harden to get him over the hump.

Im a Giannis believer long term but at his prices now I think they are too high for what his near future holds... and this is coming from a guy that wants to make an offer on your BLUE and NEXT DAY.

Giannis will require 1-2 more years of patience. By then the market will stabilize and collectors will be moaning about Dallas and Atlanta and Memphis being middle of the road teams. Lebron will retire. The Nets will be long broken up.

Giannis will get Harden and Westbrook to help him and the moons will align and the 3 of them will become hobby darlings.

Than what that means is that is this is the time to lock down the truly rare and significant stuff. If you believe he is a an NBA champion in the next 6 years, it'll be important to lock down this kind of stuff.

Shocked to see the gold prizm auto 9.5/10 go for 114k last night. That seems so, so cheap.

I think it's just the volume of stuff being listed right now. PWCC has 216 Giannis ending this weeked with a ton of overlap. Easier to limit your spending on items when you know other stuff is going to get listed right away.

I was shocked to see that sale as well, but as Smalltown said there is simply a lot of Giannis on the market right now. It's a buyers dream but I feel a tad for sellers right now. I personally made the decision to go after a few others instead of the Gold (plus it was PWCC's first auction and I'm unsure how many people were following, I actually didn't even hear about the Gold until the day before close).

There were some absolute inefficincies in last night's auction. The biggest one:

Walter Payton 1976 Topps RC PSA 10 (Pop 51): $84k

Walter Payton 1976 Topps RC BGS 10 (Pop 5): $48k

Wow... I did not see that. That’s almost unbelievable (unless PSA 10 has doubled over the BGS 10 and I missed it, which who knows at this point).

Has to be some sort of an oversight by interested buyers.

It wasn't on my radar, or else I would have been bidding like hell on the BGS 10.

Let’s see giannis get to the conference finals, we can’t set the bar to high.

If Giannis doesn't win a Championship then he doesn't care about his fans IMO

You can’t be serious.
Winning a championship doesn’t have to do with being for the fans....

He was noticeably rattled after getting called for the 10 second violation. He’s had hot streaks w/ free throws this season so I’m remaining optimistic he turns it back on.

He was 4 for 9 before the 10 second call. He was actually better after the 10 second call (2/4).

Appreciate the note. Didn’t have the exact stats. Was just an opinion of what I saw.

Bucks shot 5-31 from 3. 20-32 from the free throw line.

Still won.

Wasn't pretty, but have to feel like they'll have some games this series when the shots are falling.

Last year's team would’ve folded in OT.

If Bucks can play this way but manage to shoot 30% from 3 they would ahve won by 10+ today.
