He's got two issues going. The primary issue is that he's pulling pitches he should be hitting the other way and grounding out as a result. The secondary issue is luck. He's hitting the ball hard a lot, but he either gets under it just a hair or it's at someone. Not much he can do about that.

I think we'll know he's on the way up when he starts hitting the ball the other way again.

BTW I meant to ask others… my standing saved search for “2018 Devers” on eBay returns a bunch of Juan Soto, too, these days… is it just an issue for me? Or is the same search issue happening for you?

I’m kind of shocked to see how expensive auctions are still ending for him

Tonight an ‘18 Series 1 SSP BGS 8.5 ended for $520 and a raw ‘18 sapphire for $210. Both super strong.

Between his weak play lately and this getting to end of season, I would have thought we’d see some tailing in prices

Totally agree Pewe. I was an underbidder on that SSP that ended last night, but stayed within my set budget and lost it. I thought there'd be a price dip, but I haven't seen any deals last couple of weeks. Been looking to add some SPs to my Devers collection lately, in addition to my quest for a red ink heritage and sapphire auto (at reasonable price).

I won the SSP.. I collect SPs, and that card is unusually hard to find, so I was willing to overpay for it. Been looking for one for over a year, and my options have been an SGC 7, a raw one that the guy wanted $800 for, and a PSA 9 that the guy wanted $1100 for. Plenty of other deals to be found these days, so I'll just eat the overpay on this one...

I'm not sure what's up with the Devers card. You can almost always find the Acuna, Soto, and Ohtani SSPs. They're expensive, but available. The Devers might pop up maybe once every few months, and that's usually a crazy BIN. I was hoping to get it for $400, but happy just to find one.

I wonder if it is because there are few “investors” who focused on Devers the last few years. And most collectors have just archived the card away and it won’t come back up?

Plus ‘18 Series 1 had much higher print run, so possible fewer of the cards are in the wild?

So… I’m the only one this is happening to??? I’ve reset my saved searches and it doesn’t help. I had to add a “-Soto” flag to get rid of all the Soto spam in my Devers search

Nope… it’s even pulling in books with the name Soto in the name or as an author

Super frustrating how much they think I need to track Soto along w/Devers
