Yeah because Johntay Porter is clearly the bar for a team's wins and losses record lol says he didn't even play the games he bet them to lose.

Real story is how much does Michael Porter Jr bet on Nuggets games, he defended his brother and said he could not see him jeopardizing his career, seems a bit of a guilty conscience response like when players get caught doing a crime and other players say "We never saw anything strange, couldnt see him doing that" then it comes out they were partying or more with said player.

What do you expect when every NBA broadcast normalizes and encourages sports betting, and it's now legal in how many states? It's no longer a moral thing, as with Pete Rose. Its literally NBA needing to safeguard the integrity of its games before the betting community.

He told someone he was hurt and had them place an $80k parlay for $1.1m on his own unders & left the game early w/ an injury

separately he was having someone place bets on his behalf.

I don't even see why it should be an issue if a player is betting for their team to win. It's not like you can win on purpose, like you have to go out and play hard.

I heard an interview a while back where he came off as obsessed with money. He's probably a bit insecure too with the contract his brother has.

Nomad makes a good point. What is this world coming to?

It can be an issue because what if the player heard that one of the main guys on the other team is not playing before it's disclosed to the public? With the money these guys make, it shouldn't be a problem to ask them not to bet on their sport.

Money coming in on the 76ers since line opened at -4 up to -5.5, I guess markets believe the MVP is healthy enough for this game. Should be a good one.

You can affect the spread, though.

I use to feel this way but it is an issue. Player x chooses to sit out or give half effort the game before a back to back so he can go all out for the next game he’s betting his team to win. This would effect the integrity of the game.

Guaranteed this isn't the only example of an athlete doing this. Player, refs, team employees, there's no way to police this with the leagues so in bed with gambling.

TIL Jontay Porter's MPJ's brother and occupied an NBA roster spot.

Laying 6 figgies on JP parlays has to be the covert equivalency of Netenyahu carpet bombing a food truck convoy.

Big brain mode.

I think he was going to get a piece of the 1 million dollar bet as he tanked for the parlay to come in.
