Because modern day poop analytics.

Coaches and players overthink things and don't play to their strengths.

It’s so painful watching Giannis. Dumb shots, turnovers, ugh. Anytime he brings the ball up I pretty much assume turnover or awful shot.

Imagine giannis in his early 30’s when that athleticism starts to wane. Yikes

Game 3 Bullet-Points:

- Giannis needs to stop magnifying his own weaknesses. Not many guys can have such a polarizing poor game / negative narrative while still putting up a 33/14 stat line, but he is definitely exposing himself. I hope he sticks to what works and continues to work on his shot in the off-season, not during the biggest playoff series of his career.

- thank you, Khris. Signed, your biggest playoff doubter.

- Boy that was ugly. I don’t think a win could have given me less confidence than that one but hey, wins a win.

- Keep the hot takes coming. The hotter the takes, the better they’ll be to look back on.

Onto game 4…

PSA 10 Silver

May 28th: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22447003150...3A224470031508 - $26,488

June 10th: https://www.ebay.com/itm/26518485946...torefresh=true - $18,100

I sold my Quad 9.5 a few months ago at $18K... $16,500 cash - what would one do today if PSA 10s are $18K.... $13,500?

Idk… but down 0-2 vs the Nets in a market thats pulling back is a terrible time to be selling such a significant card.

Problem for Giannis is that when the rest of the team not named Middleton shoots 8-34, you're forced to play a style of ball that is going to magnify your weaknesses.

Glad the Bucks won. But that was a gross game. And if Brooklyn didn't play their worst game of the playoffs i don't thing the Bucks did nearly enough. I'm glad to see that Middleton, Holiday and Giannis were all playing more than 40 minutes though.

This 10 Giannis Silver RC ends in 5 days. Probstein. Should be interesting to see where it falls.

Remember when PSA 10 Silver auctions were rare?

There was a time where Silver PSA 9s were close to 10k. Wow.

But yeah, this is an absolutely terrible moment to sell a limited Giannis card.

I remember when there wasn't a silver to be seen on ebay maybe a little over a year ago. Now you can have your pick.

Thank you for leaving a worthwhile / accurate / well thought-out analysis. I agree with you on the above.

Every year I find myself less and less hopeful that he'll figure it out from the free throw and 3 point lines. My sliver of belief I still have in him becoming even adequate stems from the fact he's seemingly one of the hardest working players there is.

For me, he is one of the most dominant players I've ever watched play all the while missing such a large part of today's game. Even if the naysayers are 100% right, and his shot never improves from what we saw yesterday, I still think he goes down as a great. If he does improve, even slightly, he'll average 40/15 a game and is a ring or two away from landing in the top 5 all-time discussion.

This is why I'm all for the slander, the hot takes, etc. If players 'expiration dates' to 'figure it out' is 26, then I'll get patient and buy every superstar once they turn. Look at the resumes of the greats and see which ones started their decline at 26/27. I don't have the stats but I'm sure the list is slim.

For the 'investors' out there, be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful. For my 'collectors' out there, AKA pre 2020 and 2021 Blowout, it's a nice feeling knowing the cards can go to $0.00 and you still love them all the same. Sure, whatever I wind up holding my kids won't cash in for as much someday, but if their inheritance is dependent on my card collection I've lived life wrong.

These threads will be fun to look back on someday, one way or another.

---- Posted in the Giannis tanking thread but wanted to bring it here as well ----

Venting time:

If this were my company I'd have fired 75% of the 'staff' (users) for being purely negative/toxic. There is such good analysis / viewpoints / discussions /etc. being had but they're getting buried and are few and far between from the 'headline' esq hot takes in each and every thread.

I swear these people check stat and storylines to see who's faltering so they can talk sh*t and rile people up (congrats, it worked). Life must be a sad reality for many. I usually never let this stuff bother me but boy, the pessimism and negativity around here (not just surrounding Giannis, but all players and the hobby as a whole) has been getting the best of me. I haven't spent this much time doing this on the internet since I had a Twitter. I obviously won't delete Blowout the same but I think it's time to take a break from these threads.

I'll be available via PM if you have any Giannis' available, I'll post my Mount Rushmore as I continue to acquire it, & I look forward to the Nationals thread continuing to pick up as the dates continue to near. Other than that, time for a much needed mental break.

Ignore the crap. It's hard. But there is the ignore list. I never used to use it. But there's just a few people who can't help but troll and bait. Ignore two or three and things get a lot better.

The guy is an enigma. Its almost like hes playing in the wrong era. He is like the prototypical 90s player. This style of basketball hurts him a bit because he cant hit threes and has trouble at the line. All that being said hes still a dominant force that plays in a system that does not have enough knock down shooters. Giannis needs the spacing. Jrue has always been a bit overrated and Middleton is very inconsistent. There really is no other feared shooters on the floor to allow defenses to fade off Giannis. This has been this way for 5 years. Any successful big man who uses the paint needs shooters to space the floor. Giannis is then forced into coming out of his comfort zone and handling too much or trying to force creation. It gets ugly at times but this is 90s basketball when half court basketball dominated the game. The Bucks need to get out and run and they dont have the roster to do that.

I just think he made a very big mistake resigning here and unless he pulls an AD hes stuck here with mid tier options that dont support his style. He is going to a need a Lillard or something to fade defenses off him and allow him to control his space. Think Olajuwan or Duncan when they won and the rosters were filled with shooters/ Role Players. PJ Tucker isnt going to cut it. Every great big man needs 2-3 ball handlers/creators to help him evolve. Giannis is a rare player. He can handle and can shoot a bit when not forcing.

He needs more help.
