Think the Mavs are throwing in the towel here, or do they thing 28 pts is still within reach?

Wiggins is really good. I am not sure why so many diss this guy.

Not that many great moments. So far all I’ll remember is so many duds. We are in the conference finals so hopefully we get some to remember.

The LukaBoiz are going to whine about 3 point shooting and (perceived) missed calls, but just like to say that as we enter garbage time, both teams shot under 30% from 3 and the Mavs have taken 5 more free throws. The only difference was that everything the Mavs got was contested, and the Warriors got like 40 points off open layups. Kidd needs to get that defense cleaned up or they’re going to have to hit like 20 3s a game to make it competitive.

lmao, this must be your first time watching him. If you didn't notice, Dallas hasn't been guarding Looney, Wiggins and Draymond. Wiggins, to his credit, has capitalized on making a good amount of these wide open looks.

You can see the difference. Mavs will make adjustments, but I think you're seeing the difference in pace resulting in a bit of fatigue on Dallas' side, especially coming off a shortened break from the phoenix series.

But GS just did what they had to do. They'll need to win the next one to keep homecourt secured.
Mavs 14th in pace? That must be playoffs as they were dead last, 30th, in the regular season.

Because he doesn't always play as well as he did tonight.

He's pretty solid defensively, but a lot of games he's way too passive on offense.

Agreed.

And on offense, the Warriors went right at him, which also wore him down.

Scary thing for the Mavs is that Curry/Thompson only made 4 threes and scored 36 points...

Indeed, playoffs. I can imagine they played slower during the regular season over an 8x game grind.

Ja was averaging 38 before he went down because he's arguably the fastest guard in the league and GS has problems defending that kind of speed. Luka's more the cerebral surgeon. I don't think this was a matter of GS allowing 'Luka to get his' like the previous series. They obviously made a concerted effort to stymie his ability to get to the basket with easy looks and anticipate his kickout lanes.

But Luka is Luka. So I expect him to go nuclear next game.

I think the craziest stat of the game was Klay only attempted 4 3's, and Wiggins had 1 less attempt than Curry.

If they can come even remotely close to capturing their 2018 shooting forms, then they're gonna be tough to beat no matter who they face.

Luka was -30. Credit to the GSW defense. I can't see this series going past 5 games.

Not only was he -30, but he had 7 turnovers (against only 4 assists).

I didn’t forget. That’s why Memphis and them was such a grind. I know a lot of people want to crown Dallas, or more specifically, Luka. But this series isn’t built for the Mavericks. I despise GS, but this is more than likely a 5-6 game series in favor of the empire.

Agree King: I think a lot of people here saw the difficulty the Dubs had with Memphis and thought Dallas had a chance, but the matchup is not in their favor at all. Just too much movement on offense and they still have a stifling defense.

I think there will be adjustments but I'm sticking to my original prediction. Dubs in 6.

If Wiggins could get it together in the 2nd half, he could be the MVP of this series.

I think his length is going to really hinder Luka in this series. Luka seeing wide open shots is going to be a rarity.

Dallas seems to be focusing alot of its defensive efforts on Klay/Steph, leaving Wiggins open for some easy shots.

But unfortunately after getting off to his usual hot start, he seems to just let Klay/Steph take the wheel in the 3rd.

It could happen again, but highly doubtful. I saw Dallas get a lot of good looks that just didn’t go down including easy layups for Doncic that fell outside the cylinder.

Yeah I don't think Dallas is feeling like they were necessarily outplayed or outschemed last night. They've had a handful of nights this season where they just shoot like crap - and last night was one of those nights. If they shoot their averages then obviously they score more points but also they limit the GSW fast paced points and get an opportunity to set up their defense. We'll see if it continues, though.

Warriors were in synch. Outstanding defense, great to see Curry showing top defensive form, kudos. They substantially out-rebounded, out assisted and basically out played Dallas on all fronts. They are a poised veteran group that is very hungry - tough combo to beat. I am not going to crown them just yet, but they sure look good.

Meanwhile .... Durant is sittin' at home, watching the show.

Klay holding is own versus Luka was a surprise. But he showed how much stronger than Booker he is. Klay's explosion isn't what it used to be but that might not be as important when tracking this Mavs team, who don't really have any high flyers out there. The Suns had a clear strength disadvantage in the backcourts, Curry and Klay that's not as apparent.

Game 1s against Warriors this playoffs:

Joker - 25/10/6 (5.2 BPM)
Luka - 20/7/4 (-2.4 BPM)

surely some Luka-bashing will come from the losers-at-logic around here who bash Joker?

Warriors deserve a lot of credit for their defensive gameplan, much more than "Dallas missed a bunch of open shots" - which was also kinda true. But pace, intensity, and planning all should be credited to GS.

https://streamable.com/ja3eqx

Look at how much they switched up defensive looks just in this sample of 1st Q looks.
