Rumor that Nationals were demanding the following from the Dodgers in trade for Soto:

-Diego Cartaya
-Bobby Miller

Plus two to three of the following: Ryan Pepiot, Miguel Vargas, Andy Pages, Michael Busch, Gavin Stone

Plus 2-3 “wildcard” prospects.

I think the world of Soto, but that would’ve crippled the Dodgers in the future. I’m glad they passed.

It would have put a dent in player development but I think they would recover just fine. I think they were mostly driving up the price on Soto, though, since he wouldn't really be the best fit near term with Mookie in right already.

I wouldn't have minded Soto's ego, such as it might be.
He's actually accomplished something in the game.

Twins took the lead 4-2 and had a chance to break it open with bases loaded, but failed. Dodgers immediately tied it up and then took a 5-4 lead shortly after before no less than Joey Gallo just hammered a 3 run shot. Dodgers up 8-4 looking to go 32-5 over these last 37 games.

Kimbrel still felt the need to leave that 3rd out for batting practice

Honest question…I know DR trusts Kimbrell…but do you think we see May closing some late playoff games?

Personally I doubt it. They are building him up to start. He just threw 5 innings the other day. Really getting his command and movement back. It was horrible in his first game back in OKC.

Good command, 100+ with ease, and this new change up? And the biggest glaring need right now is starting pitching. Of course that can all change by playoff time. But I just don't see him closing.

I mean there’s a real chance we were going into the playoffs with Anderson, Gonsolin, Urias, and Heaney as our staff. A newly beast Dustin May at least gives us a shot if Walker and Kersh are still hurt

My biggest fear as a dodger fan (full disclosure I'm a bigger mets fan) is while those guys have all been very good or even great when they play the mets there will be at least 2-3 games where there is a very good chance if you give up 2 runs you lose (degrom starts) and I don't trust any of those guys to be top of the line shut down starters and its even more concerning knowing kimbrell may not be allowed to give up a run. I do thing May has the stuff to be that guy but likely won't have the opportunity to show case it this playoffs

Not to mention if games are tied in 9th or go extra nd it comes down to kimbrell vs diaz that's just a massive massive edge to the mets.

I get that. But every year is its own thing. Who's to say deGrom will even be pitching the playoffs (definitely not wishing that, never want to see anyone injured,) and Schrezer's arm is just dead in the second round. The last time deGrom faced the Dodgers was in 2019, that was forever ago, in his two starts against them the first was terrible. He gave up 7 hits, 2 ER, and only struck out 2 in 5 innings on 105 pitches. And if you look back at his entire career against the Dodgers. Which is only 9 games. He has won 4 and lost 5.

But in all honesty, I'd put Gonsolin and Heaney up against DeGrom and Scherzer, and with the way they have been pitching this year, I'd expect to win at least one. And the offense will take care of the other three games.

Major Props to whomever came up with "The Field of Dreams"
A great way to Promote Baseball, which the current commissioner has no idea how to do. I don't think he even likes Baseball.

On another note I'm not worried about the playoffs yet. A lot can change between now and then. Let's find out about what happens to Kershaw, Walker, and May to make certain they're healthy. No reason to rush them back. Also the relievers-Trienen and Brusdar. Dodgers will need a healthy Turner and Rios for playoffs too. Last years playoffs were a hot mess.

Where has this beastmode version of Muncy been hiding all year?! A starting pitcher coming back healthy would be nice right now...our rotation is literally Urias, Gonsolin, Anderson....and uh, whoever?
