Let's hope September is just like August.

Gallen is the anti Ty Blach. Apparently a Cy Young contender that the Dodgers always seem to hit.

Looks like it's Merrill Kelly's turn for a beating tonight.

Pro: the effortless sweep knocked Arizona out of the final Wild Card spot.
Con: it let the Giants back into that spot.

Tonight, the only 2 teams in MLB to have not yet reached 50 losses square off. Both are playing well and coming off dominating series wins. Something's gotta give.

Dodgers are looking to close out August with their 25th win, certainly among the best months of all-time. The all-time record is 29 (1916 NY Giants), but they played 34 games that month. The 1938 NY Yankees have 28, but they played 36 games that month.

Pretty weak at-bat from Hernandez at the end there, but a pretty good start to the series. Atlanta will leave LA with the #1 seed. How many games up is the question. At least LA got Lance Lynn out of the way. There was no way Atlanta hitters weren't going to bomb him.

Well, a little disappointing to start, but there's still a couple left. Dodger pitcher TBD (opener) on Saturday versus Bryce Elder for Atlanta.

You'd think the Dodgers would want to win the season series with Atlanta just in case, but having fallen 6 back of them for #1 seed, it probably won't matter as tie-breakers go. Even so, they'd need to win Saturday and Sunday to do it and cut the lead back down to 4.

Won't be easy, but it's good to face a team like Atlanta now.

Sheehan actually looking pretty good thru 3 although he just gave up the hardest hit of the year to Acuna Jr.

Austin with a double on his bobble-head night.
The magic is real.

Things change, but, I mean, at this point, LA should probably start hoping someone else takes Atlanta out of the playoffs.
Not only is Atlanta up 7 for the top seed, they've also won the season series.

Miller vs. Morton tomorrow.

Ouch, sting-y!!!

All right, back to within 6 of top seed after saving a little face today.
Not easy to overcome with one month left, but certainly not impossible.

My prediction is LA will look back on August and realize they peaked a bit too soon. Without going nuts they are way back. And that run was never sustainable.

Atlanta is a superior team everywhere but walks. Winning 1/4 is about where I expected LA to be after this series.

Playoffs are weird but ATL has such a good lineup that someone is always gonna be hot. The pitchers keep them in every game and HR hitters 1-9 are why they are so hard to beat.

Atlanta is actually somewhat streaky. They were a .500 team in May (15-14) and were again mediocre in July (13-10). The reason Atlanta (and LA) are so far above the other NL teams is basically Atlanta's June and LA's August, in which both won most of their games.

Atlanta's solid 20-8 in August coupled with this weekend's results are why they lead LA by 6 currently. Hopefully for the Dodgers, some help is on the way in the form of JD, Buehler, and some of the other injured guys, and maybe Atlanta reverts to their May/July form.

Dodgers have a 14.5 game lead over SF and Arizona in the West. Even so, those two are tied with Cincy for the final WC spot.

Dodgers have a lot of work to do before the playoffs. Dodgers need to keep healthy and have hurt players heal. Regular season doesn’t mean that much when the playoffs start. Dodgers could be hot or cold during playoffs, but one thing they need to do is show some heart and determination. The Dodgers look too lost or intimidated. Example being losing to a Padres team they dominated and showing no fight.
Go Dodgers!

Buehler went 2 perfect innings in a start for OKC today, his first game action since June 10 of last season. He had 2 strikeouts and threw 24 pitches (15 strikes). His sequence was: line out to 2B, fly to LF, K (looking). In the 2nd inning: K (looking), line out LF, grounder to 1B

I think it’s play it by ear, but if he can build up to 5-6 innings I’m sure he’s going to be starting.

Well, gee, that's two of those now.
Let's see if he can get another for September.

This award began in 2001. Most of the other 3 (and 4) time winners won Rookie of the Year:

4:
Ichiro
Trout
Judge

3:
Abreu
Yordan
Jason Bay
Alonso
Harris II

The only exception was 2018 when Soto won 3 times, but lost to Acuna Jr., who only got 1.

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN.

Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond.

"Not good" would be an understatement.
He has a court date later this month.

Now What?
Dodgers starting pitching already a mess
Why Julio Why?
FreeAgency coming
Playoffs coming
What were you thinking?
Second Offense-Worse than the First time?
Suspension coming from MLB
Jail time?
I just don’t understand how any man pro or ordinary could push a woman out of anger, unless his life was in danger(she had a weapon)
I have been very angry at my wife, but walked away and cooled down

He’s played his last game in a Dodger jersey. I can almost guarantee it.

Now we’re gonna find out just how ready the kids(miller Sheeran grove Pepiot)are and Buehler too. They certainly don’t get through the NLCS without an unexpected star emerging IMO
