Wonder how long it takes to grade a card compared to other TPGs.

I think i know exactly what you are talking about. There was one day where a new user was using certain popular phrases from the NFT world and using them to talk about the hobby as a whole.

That was one day. In fact it was only for part of one day. There has been no crypto or NFT talk before that or since. Just a heads up.

TAG, in their own words, said they are not a grading company, but a Technology company. With that being said, why are people sending cards to be graded by them?

Let me find the interview on YouTube. I am still looking for the video/interview Quote. But this is interesting. They have the technology down, but are they really grading cards in any significant number to “take over the market” as so many have pronounced? There is no way I would have thought they were grading less the. ARENA.

I feel like this is said repeatedly, whenever someone from the company issues a public statement, which was more common last year and extremely rare now - which is frankly a little annoying as a subscriber to their newsletter and social media channels - there's very little genuine outreach to collectors, and nothing on the level of Peter's video updates at SGC or CGC's flurry of PR pieces on their site.

I think using the "Tech Company" bluster against them is a Bad Faith argument, however, as it's clearly marketing/investor hype. They want to be seen as more than a Grading company and to distinguish themselves from human grader-focused approaches.

I'm apprehensive about their methods, but I don't fail to see why people are intrigued. Good slab, interesting approach. But without vintage and thicker cards, I can't commit to them as anything more than a fun novelty and decor.

That is definitely a fair assessment as a marketing tool, similar to SGC and the TUX marketing. However, SGC totally focuses on the grading aspect and grades a heck of a lot of cards, vintage better than anyone else really. I am just amazed they have “graded” so few cards more than one year out.

No chance someone from TAG would ever say they are not a grading company.

Unless they are shilled or TAG influencers buy them at above PSA prices, likely, they will sit a long time. I like CGC slabs, but I know not to do that because THIS FLIPPER (nothing wrong with it) inspired hobby are PSA first.

This is the line I think people are getting caught up on that they left in a comment on my video.

"We are a technology company, and our aim as such is to provide our technology to the market at scale. While we are not quite there yet, we are making big strides. The goal is to decentralize grading, offer our grading pods in local card shops and to support the avenues where people can buy product and grade in-person instead of requiring them to send their cards into us-- less expense, faster turn around times, and transparent grading that shows you exactly why your card got the grade it did. "

The we are a "TECH company"

Thanks for providing. That isn't the same thing as saying they are not a grading company but I can see where people are coming from.

Default TAG ?

Typical PSA order tracker post.....

"I sent my cards in about 4 weeks ago and they may have gotten them but the green tracker is still showing blue.

I went into cardiac arrest waiting for my cards. These cards will change my life if I ever see them again."

Typical TAG order tracker post......
"TAG is grading cards?"

Typical SGC order tracker post.......

"WTF? How does this company do it. Shipped yesterday. On the way back to me already."

The most interesting thing to me is people posting about PSA/BGS offering no transparency, not understanding why a card got the grade that it did or how the graders are inconsistent.

PSA is king for now and the slabs sell for the most money, but man people put up with a lot of crap with them.

I believe TAG will catch on with other collectors long term, but it will take time. It certainly won't happen overnight ("TAG grades cards? I don't need a novel about why my card got the grade it did!"), but they do have a unique offering.

"TAG X offers the same grading system quality and accountability--including the DIG Report--without three-digit scoring and with the industry-standard 10-point grading scale."

This is like when CSG had an option of people paying more for subgrades. CSG than got rid of them because no one cared about them. Same thing will happen here. People will pay less because they don't care about transparency. They just want the 10 grade on the slab.

Except here people are still getting transparency and an abridged grading report.

The nickel and diming at TAG is starting. No more free included shipping, which is going to make their new lower service just as expensive. They also have TAG assure insurance for $0.99 or $1.99 and they have a $0.99 per card for "deionization."
