Boston should plan something for game 4 where Marcus Smart DIES on the court and then rises from the dead to play in the 3rd quarter.

The officiating has generally been horrendous throughout the playoffs....

There just doesn't seem to be any consequences for poor officiating....only two refs were dropped between rounds 1&2, and only two more between rounds 2&3.

Kane Fitzgerald, whose crew was too frozen to make that out-of-bounds call at the end of Game 1 of the Warriors-Grizzlies series, has since reffed four more games (including the Warriors twice)...for a mistake of that magnitude, they should have all been sent home.

Home cooking for the Celtics couldn't even make it work. C's with 30 FT attempts... Heat got junk FT's at the end.

The flopping on all sides is ridiculous. If I were the officials, I wouldn't be giving anyone the flop calls.

Also... what is up with the Celtics players that got injured and looking like they got hit by a train, then come back 5 minutes later like nothing happened.
When Smart went down I texted my friend that i thought it was his achilles and he was done.

A few mins later… back in the game.

I agree but Kyle Lowry is doing the same exact things from the same exact playbook.

The league has pretty much decided to let it go unless the offensive player actually extends his arm.
80% of the time the offensive player is pushing off because he is being impeded or displaced or held. You aren't out there playing and thinking about stiff arming a guy to get an advantage.... it's an instinct, usually from significant contact from a defender.

Call it, fine, but then call every single hand check and hold and two hands and you don't have basketball anymore. You have a giant game of grab ass.

Depressed. The Celts don't stagger players at all. Nesmith certainly earned a few minutes with his first game efforts and he would have been the one to stand between Bam and the basket a few times and save Smart from auto self destruction (he is going down with injury soon).

Heat do have a 9-10 player rotation, it's a big difference when you have fresh feet at the end.

As I said, Bam remains the most critical piece in the series.

are you related to him or something? it's a really weird, unhealthy obsession.

Call me crazy, but I'll be even more scared if he's related to him.

Like, I can't see my mom being so hardcore about defending my job. I'll rather believe he's super heavily invested on him or they share a special bond (hometown, high school, etc.)

Thanks splif, whatever. It is just an aspect of the game I follow because of the significant investment I made last year (and continuing this year because of the drip drip of Panini issues). But I have been following the entire Celtics, so I know the group dynamics well.

And yeah like many collectors I pick a player, buy his cards, and follow him. More interesting at an early stage of career. If Cavs were in semis we could be talking Darius Garland all day. This is the lens by which I watch the Cs games, some people have a point-spread lens, I find this more interesting.

If you watch Game 1 you will see an easy to follow example of Udoka putting crash in at exactly the right time. Second quarter, when the Heat were starting to out-physical the Celtics. They rode that energy, the defensive stops, to an 8 point lead at half. Then, in the third quarter, Udoka failed to put him in at a similar inflection point. Celtics began to get dominated on the boards and by the time they put crash in they were 20 points underwater. His lack of offensive output does not bother me at all.

If I had been Udoka in G3 I do not allow Smart to come back in like the injured boxing champ or whatever. I save him from serious injury and trust Nesmith to hold the fort for about 5 minutes or whatever can be reasonably expected. That would have conserved the Celtics energy for a surge with their regulars at the end. Maybe we will see this type of strategy in Game 4, Nesmith did prove himself against Heat in November, one of a handful of games they let him play minutes.

Oh and let me repeat: can face down Bam.

Now waiting for your in-depth analysis of a player and team dynamics, relevant to ongoing playoff.

Nice a game on Sunday at 9pm. The NBA isn’t very good at scheduling playoff games

I noticed oshmeehan was extra bitter last night getting into his feels due to an early exit for the bucks but I didn’t see anything that warranted a suspension. What did I miss?

Honestly, this playoffs has been so crappy with all the blowouts, I'm all for writing WWE scripts to make it more entertaining.

And heck, there's better acting with all these flops that we've seen than there is in WWE.

True points. Also most people here dont know what to watch for in games. The Boston near comeback was pretty near exciting and I pointed out what they did wrong in that, so they probably processed that by now. I look forward to a confrontational 4th game in the garden with no major injuries.

Mavericks fined for the THIRD time for the behavior of their bench players.

When is the NBA going to realize that five-figure fines are meaningless as a deterrent?

Refs need to starting giving technical fouls, especially when players are wearing the same color clothing as the opposing team (as was the case for the Mavs against the Warriors, as well as the Heat against the Celtics yesterday).

In game 2, Curry passed the ball to the Mavs bench (who were wearing white sweats), thinking that it was a Warriors player, and that won't be the last time that happens.

I remember watching Bulls-Knicks playoff games on Saturday night and then Sunday around noon/early afternoon.

The game was more physical and the rest/recovery time was shorter. And those NBA on NBC games had amazing pre-game videos, too.

Actually, what I realize is that it is just personality. When Grant "Dork Knight" Williams dubbed all the Celtics Marvel characters, he chose crash as Drax and I realized that was my favorite character in Guardians of the Galaxy. So it all made sense.

Actually I am more Scorcese on the value of Marvel franchise stuff, but GOTU has been the exception.

Here’s the list:

The boss
Ime Udoka: Nick Fury

Starters
Marcus Smart: The Incredible Hulk

Jaylen Brown: Black Panther

Jayson Tatum: Vision

Al Horford: Captain America

Rob Williams: Thor

Bench
Derrick White: Iron Man

Grant Williams: Spider-Man

Aaron Nesmith: Drax

Sam Hauser: Hawkeye

Luke Kornet: Groot

Nik Stauskas: Ant-man

Daniel Theis: Captain Marvel

Payton Pritchard: Quicksilver

Malik Fitts: Dr. Strange

Brodric Thomas: Rocket

Matt Ryan: Star-Lord

Ridiculous.

Should be 7 pm. The whole schedule these playoffs has been really bad.

like it wasn't a major test already down 2-1? Never understood why everyone was all over these Celtics for stringing together a few wins. It is the same team that was #@#@#@#@ in the first half of the season... They have already surpassed my expectations beating the Bucks and had a tougher series than the heat.

Also saw the entire Heat and Celtics bench now doing what the Mavs are doing standing players last game. Ridiculous. Herro did not look too happy about it.
