They remind me of each other, yes.

In terms of Taylor's Trout, it just seems like the foil version has the pale pinkish look of his Ichiro, Mattingly, Rivera cards and fits his overall set better than the base version.
I can see that from a set perspective.

The Don C Big Hurt was screaming Topps Embossed to me - it's too bad Topps couldn't have pulled that treatment off for the P2020 card. The Taylor Trout looks like it could be a statue. Might be my new favorite of the set...

Full disclosure; foil cards are a silly concept for me, at least in the context of P2020 (though at least the artist are getting to choose how to incorporate it, unlike the fan created ones).

Interesting, I would have assumed the opposite in terms of the draw of foil. That almost all of the base cards for the set were manufactured during a time without foils/refractors/etc. so the inclusion of them was a nice way to get some modern day treatment on nostalgic cards. Either way, I'm glad people are digging them and I'm aware I'm in the minority.

This looks much nicer with foil in the mock-up, although I'm sure it'll never look as perfect as in the mock-up.
I learned so much more about you with this comment haha. This card takes me back to long weekend trips to France & the Mediterranean while studying in Germany in its base version, which I prefer. Pretty much takes me back to the moments when I rekindled my relationship with art. I agree the contrast isn't as accentuated though.

I was actually shocked that my wife was somewhat receptive to me buying a print. The deal is that I get one, and it’s my Christmas present. While I have been really eyeing up the Taylor Henderson because it’s one of my favorite cards from the entire set and would look great on our wall, I just couldn’t pass on the Ermsy Trout, as it’s probably the most iconic.

For a while I thought this was a Don C card and then remembered he had already made a Trout

Congrats. The Trout isn't even my favorite Ermsy card, but I think it would be one that is on the top of my list of potential print buys because it's a card that I immediately think of when I hear P2020. It might be THE card I think of, really.

The Beck McGwire is missing something for me.

Speaking of "the card" of P2020, did anyone purchase a Shore Gibson print? I know Ugli may have mentioned it.

The other trade-off was that she preferred getting me one print to buying several display cases to show off all my P2020 cards since “we’re not a baseball card shop”.... So I guess I’ll just have to store them in boxes and bring them out at parties.

I've been out of the P2020 thread for some time but I'm all over that print. Can't wait to display.

Three cards today? And two are by Tyson Beck? Strange times!

If I could afford a $400 print, the Shore Gibson would be in the top 3 of prints I would maybe get.

I haven't been collecting Trout or Siff (other than a couple here an there) but picking one of these up for sure. The Foil cards looks amazing.

I really want to respond, but I'm trying not to be too negative after Efdot's post yesterday.

So, I'll praise something instead:
Yesterday's Fucci Rivera does a better job at not being clashy-clashy than the other cards released this week. Fucci didn't do anything exciting, but the colors are calming, and I like the watercolor effect that he uses. I haven't seen anything similar in his non-P2020 art.
