I remember back when there used to be discussions about raising the debt ceiling. Congress actually used to debate it, lol. In recent years it has become so automatic that they just said screw it and suspended it altogether, lol.

I wonder if there are any true conservatives still out there.

In regards to deficit spending, where do you stand?

Given that the previous high yearly budget deficit was $1.4T in 2009 and we are looking to top $3T in 2020 and $2T in 2021, what should we do?

Option 1) cut spending
Option 2) raise taxes
Option 3) both 1 and 2
Option 4) keep on keepin' on. It's all good.

I lean left but man - that is a dangerous spike. I feel we delay the inevitable without option 3. Cutting spending won’t be sufficient, and ideally we reset taxes at worst to where they were pre-Trump tax cuts. I mean - from what I understand personal taxes will soon anyway (part of why I laughed off those seeing it as a big boon for individuals), but the cut in corporate tax rate just means they have less to try and dodge :/

By our efforts she says. I guess it's our fault. That's nice. She seems nice.

I haven't kept up the last day or so but I ran across a video that I thought was pretty interesting. Give it a couple minutes of your time and let me know what you think.

Cuomo.

Planning to get governors together to stop the distribution of the vaccine because he believes it should wait a few months so that Biden can do it.

Biden already having phone calls with foreign leaders regarding policy per Ben Rhodes. I thought that was illegal?

This was funny and shocking at the same time. I watched it and thought wow. That is something I would expect him to say behind closed doors. Nope just blurted it out on the MSM. Same guy who is responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths in NY due to incompetence is now trying to delay the covid vaccine for political optics. That guy is nuts.

She exposes herself in each post. I chuckled when she said the majority of smack talk was coming from right trump supporters on here.

Yes. conservative.

That means, since Trump is republican but not conservative, that I am on neither team here.

Yep.

I just realized who you are because I used to have friends that would do this and I always thought it was pretty lame. You're that person that doesn't have a team to root for or care about a sporting event but goes for the team that is not your team so they can throw it in your face if your team loses. If they win they just stay silent.

Pretty much sums you up in this thread.

Fair enough.

Except I do have a team. They're just not playing anymore. Ugh.

I'm like a Philadelphia As fan. They moved to Kansas City and then Oakland and now it's like they're not even the same team, so I just sit around rooting for the old Philly As. Yeah, it sucks...but that's me I guess.

It's spot on.

The majority of the problems we face in this country are problems we create because we don't have real problems anymore. That's not to say the world is perfect, it's not. Nor should it be.

Thanks for the responses.

I agree with 3...but acknowledge that maybe we need to wait until next year to get at it, since we are still dealing with Covid.

Heavy cuts to spending, light tax raises, and a debt ceiling that is managed responsibly.

Biden isn't that guy. Ugh.

Maybe we can resurrect Jeb Bush, or have another Obama run. Oh wait they were miserable failures.

I think that's pretty big news with Fox separating themselves from him. That's his network. Half his tweets are from them.
