i thought lebron played a great game. he wasn't aggressive, HE HAS NEVER PLAYED LIKE THIS, and he's going against iggy, draymond and barnes. none of which are scrubs. they're all great defenders and pretty much have the sole responsibilty for trying to stop him.
if you're looking for flash, look to kyrie. he's your man if you want a player to dominate the game, lebron isn't that. he's a steady, consistant and reliable player who will impose his will on ANY TEAM.
oh yea, lebron had a triple double nearly and played amazing defense.

here's what happened in the 3rd/4th quarter that changed the game.

lebron subs out and they're down by 3 when it's the 3/4 minute mark in the 3rd quarter...
lebron enters the game on the 10 minute mark in the 4th and the cavs are down 14.

lebron needs to control the game from the bench with his mind

There are no excuses for any player or any team, they are in the NBA finals and they need to play at what ever level it takes to win the game/series....

That logic works great in a vacuum.

Disappointing game 1. GS bench showed up tonight. Hopefully Game 2 goes a little better.

It's only 1 game, Cavs lost in Toronto by 15 also but the team was less in that game than they were this one.
It's not that they lost by 15, it was how they lost by 15. Cleveland achieved what they wanted to do against Curry and Klay. Cleveland took them out of the game.

Curry and Thompson didn't shoot well and barely scored. Still won by 15.

Doesn't bode well for The Cleveland Cadavers.

I think people are overthinking the curry / klay numbers. I see it more as the defense over compensated so much to guarding curry / klay that everyone else had tons of open looks and delivered.

For me I'd be most worried about clevelands offense. GS played great D today and held the cavs to 89 points. Seems nearly impossible to beat GS on the road without scoring 100+.

Lebron played fine all things considered with the attention he got from multiple elite defenders. Some combination of jr, Kyrie and love need to put up big numbers or they're gonna get destroyed.

Lets put it this way. Cleveland was dealing with 3 pots and have 2 lids.

The Warriors held OKC to about 43% shooting for the series, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs continue to struggle offensively given that the Warriors are much better defensively than any of the teams the Cavs have played so far.
LeBron (31%) and Kyrie (32%) are below average three-point shooters, and Love (36%) isn't much better.

How obnoxious would this board be for the next few days if game 1 had a different outcome?

i fully expected the warriors to take game 1 but did not expect it to look like that. the cavs did an excellent job of stopping who they wanted. but on offense, where is the ball movement to get good shots. watching the cavs iso all game isnt championship basketball. every call that went the warriors way, they seemed to capitalize and make a 3 which is a killer. cavs are in it in the third, lebron goes to the bench, and the warriors go on like a 20-1 run lmao. hopefully game 2 looks different. the series doesnt start until the home team loses, i can at least find comfort in that lol.

OT: Now thats a team effort! If you cant take advantage when your opponents 2 star players score a combined 20pts then you're in trouble.

Intriguing to see how the rest of the series is played out.... I still say GSW in 6 or 7, but we'll see after game 2 (might be over quicker if things dont change on Clevelands side)

He's not the best basketball player in the world. He's probably the most physically gifted basketball player in the world, but not the best.

My "non expert" thoughts from last night.

1. Lots of "over reactions" from people---let's see how game 2 plays out. If it's the same scenario---then yes, I would say GS has the NBA Championship.

2. Dramond/Iggy are absolute beasts on defense--elite defenders. To me, this is what steers this series in favor of Golden State.

3. Kyrie is playing way too much ISO ball. I know Lebron is the main facilitator of the offense, but 4 assists is not going to cut it.

4. Great game plan by Cleveland to concentrate on Curry/Thompson and let the bench beat you. I don't see the bench shooting a high percentage like this again.----but it wouldn't surprise me. They are deep and can shoot the three.

5. The days of Lebron hitting for 40 points are over. Not saying he can't, but that's not his role in this offense.

6. Cleveland needs to slow things down.---as a previous poster stated, they came back in the third by slowing the pace of the game. They cannot win a track meet against GS----they just don't have the depth.

7. The most obvious: The Cleveland bench needs to step up!

I really don't care who wins, but you keep kicking butt Shaun Livingston.

Most "expert" tv analysts were saying the exact opposite last night. That Cleveland needed to play faster and looser like they have been the last couple of months with more ball movement because last night they did slow the pace with all of their iso ball and we see how that turned out. The next 2 days will be filled with overreactions. The Warriors need to tune out all the nonsense they will hear about this series being over and come out in game 2 with the mentality that they are down 0-1 and not up.

It was great watching him go off last night after his poor series against OKC. I was hoping his little mini burst against OKC in the second half of game 7 would get him going and hopefully it has. If he even plays half as good the rest of the series, the Warriors should win easily although Steph and Klay will definitely need to perform much better and I have no doubt they will.

So the best basketball player is a guy who has to bully his way to the rim most of the time and can't be counted on to hit any clutch shots and shoots free throws poorly for the best basketball player in the world.. He is a physically dominant player, but not the best basketball player in the world. He actually developed a decent jump shot in Miami, but he has lost it in Cleveland. We can just agree to disagree though. Go LeBron go I guess Warrior fans will have to settle for having the best team and a championship over having someone on their who is considered by some to be the best basketball player in the world.

What a weird game, I feel like Lue was totally unprepared. Even though everyone is overreacting in classic BO fashion it's not as bad for the Cavs as everyone made it seem.

Livingston will almost certainly regress to the mean, he played an unbelievable game and I would be shocked if he does it again. Cavs were way too tight out there, too much iso ball and too many turnovers.

I expect Lue to make the necessary adjustments and the Cavs to come out with alot more energy and take game 2
