One cut on a $60 card for $7800 profit. This is absolutely mind blowing and probably the best example I've seen why there are so much of this occurring. I can't imagine how sick I would feel to find out I paid that much more for the minor alteration.

There is so much more just from card-guy. Most of the cards that I have posted are from early 2017. He has been buying cards for years.

The Yaz is a prime example of why this will never stop. If anything, some
that have kept score and never thought of doing this are going to join the
program.

PSA history and current response only seems to validate this.

As far as the other question that you had in regards to this investigation of the auction here in our industry, I can answer it very short and sweet. We don't believe that there is anything of a material nature for our company to be concerned with.

Joseph J. Orlando, Collectors Universe, Inc. - CEO, President & Director [11]

and this

And we think that in the overall scheme of our business that some of this has been blown way out of proportion. But we are very confident in the services that we provide and very confident in the grading staff that we have, and so is the public

and this

Joseph J. Wallace, Collectors Universe, Inc. - CFO & SVP [43]

So I think this whole trimming issue that we spent a lot of time talking about today is really something that we don't consider material to our business. And we'd probably just like to leave it at that in terms of any additional questions on the subject.

This is a very concerning but potentially true statement. Didn't good ole Joe say that since the trimming scandal news broke that PSA has actually seen an uptick in submissions?

People see the massive $$ signs by the "mini' alterations and have FOMO.

This sucks

Yes...the uptick is attributable to the increased number of altered cards sent in by card doctors seeing how PSA is unable to catch altered submissions.

It appears that, with the unwillingness of PSA to even acknowledge this is going on, the only way this is going to get handled is for people to quit buying PSA 10s for more than 100 times the price of a PSA 7.5. These greedy idiots are partly to blame as well. I'm off the grading tip for the foreseeable future. It's gonna crash eventually. Lack of confidence in the process says that's inevitable.

I would disagree with this statement. PSAs submissions have been in an upward trend forever, even more so since Beckett's return struggles. That is a classic example of correlation without causation.

PSA should do away with the pop report. Makes no sense at this point.

You’re not saying it isn’t true...

This is a great point. I wonder just how off base the current numbers are.

PSA will begin to face issues if they do not honor the guarantee behind their service. Not every sale is from PWCC and eventually customers will be lining up for a reimbursement.

Is COMC going to make a response? People are wondering what to do with their trimmed cards.

Didn't they already state they would refund any proven trimmed cards?

No. Somebody posted the text of an email they said was from them, but no official statement other than they are looking into it.

jhileman79's response in his Jeter thread is how I see most collectors handling their collection. Once it is in the plastic I just don't think most will care.

So they have responded then. Just not to the thread.
