There is also a video of Zion hitting four straight 3s in his NBA debut, that doesn't mean he can do that consistently.

i have video of me at the ymca hitting a three and i can say for sure i cannot do it consistently. it took lebron a few years before he would knock them down regularly from deep, heck it took him a couple years before he would take them at the end of a game.

i need to see your ticket to make sure you are on the right train or you will have to be thrown out.

Got this Zion in today. I felt like I got a really good deal since I believe I saw a Raw numbered to 299 end at $150+ a few days before I won this and a BGS 9 numbered to 299 had a BO of $213. I won this one at $175. Zion Blue Elite BGS 9

Finally arrived. This cost just $400 more than a Prizm PSA 10 when I bought it. Hard to believe.

I thought Zion played a very good defensive game yesterday. I'll see if I can dig up some clips.
Please do. I don't determine his defense based on stats first - I determine it based on what I see and how he moves, then I look at the stats. The movement and level of explosion has just not been the same, but like some have said, all I can do is give it time and see. It's early so maybe it will come around at some point.

Don't get me wrong - his offense and the attention he gets from defenses alone still makes him a ridiculous commodity even w/out a shot, but that extra oomph on defense is what I believed would separate him from the pack.

Pelicans broadcast was saying before he shot it that he’s been working on the midrange a lot

I don't know why he doesn't try and pull up between 4-8 feet. That's butter with his touch.

His free throws, on the other hand........

Off night defensively and on the boards for Zion. But I can't single him out, because the entire team looked like absolute poop on that end. Offensively, he was getting pretty much anything he wanted.

Still needs to work on the free throws.

This team remains an enigma, but I guess that's to be expected with a relatively young team with new pieces. Next few games won't get any easier.

Zion just had the most inconsequential 20 pt game you'll ever see

just as i figured, it was all about what Pelicans didn't do tonight, completely ignoring the fact this Suns team is damn good, off to their best start in 6 years

First of all, I really wish he'd stop walking like a fat guy with a limp. It's just not a good look.

Onto real issues, this defense is starting to disappoint me real fast. He had some combination of Crowder/Johnson on him tonight and I lost count on the number of 3s he let them shoot. For now, the answer to Zion may be going small and raining 3s on him. Luckily, not every team has a Crowder on their team.

Problem #2: Stan might want to realize that the second unit needs a point guard. It looks like they have two real PGs on this team and both of them start, leaving the second unit with no floor general. Common sense - you can't play ball w/out a PG on the floor. The score was 31-29 after the first. Got blown out of the park in the 2nd quarter and that was the game.

Problem #3: They have ZERO spacing. Might want to put Bledsoe on the bench until they find a way to move him, which would solve problem #2 and give them more spacing with JJ. JJ is off to a rough start presumably because of problem #2.

The season is young and a lot of guys are still very rusty. They need time to figure things out - it feels like a lof of teams are still in "training camp" to "preseason" mode, evidenced by the gigantic blowouts across the league.

I'm giving official notice on Zion. I've watched him a lot. Watched the whole game tonight. I cannot envision him becoming the go-to guy, ever. He loses the handle on the ball all the damn time (does he have small hands?). Great scoring. No attempts to block out tonight. Freaking just limps around everywhere.

I'm out.

Currently buying 30% below ebay on this washed up 5xth game prospect. Could be the next Sekou.

Damn. I went there.

Some observations from tonight...

1. The Suns balled out tonight. Look out if that’s the kind of groove they get in.

2. New Orleans desperately needs three point shooting/Reddick to unthaw.

3. Zion scores so easily you almost forget about it until you see the box score.

4. Zion looks like a fish out of water sometimes on defense when the ball is moving and he is guarding shooters on the perimeter.

5. Still needs to work on the free throws and putting the ball on the floor in traffic.

6. Looks explosive as heck with the ball, just needs to devote more of that energy on D. As he is now playing regular minutes, I think this will come.

All things considered, he’s 20 and makes teams recalibrate their defense to stop him. They can do this much easier when the Pels are cold as ice shooting. From a development standpoint, he’s nowhere near his peak and STILL probably going to be around a 23-8 guy this season. I’ll gladly take it.

My biggest frustration with him right now. Overall, he still looks better than he did last year.

The previous game he was very active and attacking the passing lanes. Today, he looked like year uno. Sagging off his man and half assing contests on late closeouts.

I think the problem a lot of us have (and I'm very guilty of this), is your eyes tend to suffer from acute tunnel vision while watching him. So much so that it's easy to get caught up in criticisms of each and every aspect of his game. Relay the game back and zone in on any of the other 4 starters on the floor on both sides of the ball. It was an ugly effort for everyone, including BI. You do not get run out the gym by 40 points because of the efforts of a single guy.
