I would do the same. I'll collect raw and build my Niners RC graded PC over time, but I wouldn't be able to send 1000 Zions (or whoever) right out of the pack.

I think average collectors would be on board with this.

And hey - if you pull a high money ultra modern card? $100 to slab is nothing.

I think it’s more like $500-1000 now with PSA if you were to do express and account for premium based on card value

Add to that the fact that most good sellers have high grade scans of the exact card on ebay so you can get a very good idea what you getting before buying and for better or worse ebay makes it easy to get your money back if you buy a raw card that you don't think was represented correctly in ebay listing. If people just want a high grade card that would be PSA 9-10 and hypothetically went right from pack into sleeve/top loader and well cared for then why not skip the middle man and added cost of having cards graded or buying a PSA10?

The obvious thing is counterfits/altered cards but as we've seen there are thousands of those passing through PSA undetected and being sold on PWCC among other places so trust of authentication isn't as high as it might have been in the past. There will always be the place for grading on super high end expensive cards but if you are just buying raw card from a new released set for $20 it's worth taking a shot instead of waiting for a graded one for $100 or more. The fact that people have already been paying $2000 for raw Lamello Prizms kind of answers some of those questions about how much value there is in grading right now

Your last point is actually a misconception. The reason that a lamelo Prizm base sells for more out of the gate is that it’s more likely to be in Gem condition then those that hit the eBay in 2 months.

A couple things that I'd quickly do if I were in Nat Turner's shoes.

1) Phase out the physical SMR Report Magazines. The cost might not be huge, but I don't know anyone who has any use for these, I just throw them away asap. Initially offer some cheap bonus to those who go digital only.

2) Combine all the services from Bulk to Regular services, just have all the cards together up to a $999 value, separate versions for Modern and Ultra Modern. Its too confusing and unnecessary that there's 3 services up to $999 in card value.

3) The cost would start at $50 a card and go down $5/card for every 20 cards in the submission to a floor of $25 at 100+ cards.

4) Limit the amount of times a person/address/cc/whatever can send in this new Regular submission, at least initially if not permanently. This would sort of play into what HGA does but there is no super queue you have to join.

All this would create a system where there are a fewer number of bulk-regular submissions but the amount of cards in each should be increased due to the discount. This can also help the big submission groups get more cards and there could be special rates for a huge amount of cards.

I don't know much about the TCG market so that could be handled differently.

PSA isn't going to be able to fully clear their entire backlog in 3 months or probably come super close, so their plan when they come back is essential.

Good suggestions there!

I flip through it for 60 seconds then recycle it. I think it was probably conceived as a low-cost way to make money (the advertising in it - which it MOSTLY is - probably more than pays for the printing and mailing). It's not so much a magazine as imbedded advertising for auction houses and consigners.

Not sure it's necessary anymore.

Great list! My thoughts -

1. Same! I was wondering if there was a way on the website to let them know to not ship it but I didn't find anything - they should at the very least include this option.
2. Makes sense
3. Great idea - Would incentivize people to ship 1 large shipment of 100 cards rather than 5 shipments of 20 cards ... speeding up the process a ton!
