Is it just me or are cases trending up in cost? Jumbo cases near $1400. Appears that the big 3 are out of stock. Really thought prices would be going lower. Lots of initial hype I guess and all of the great pulls everyone is showing.

They always play on the FOMO, it’s the oldest trick in the book.

There is plenty out there.

With patience and with baseball out of sight, out of mind, you will find some good deals in a few months.

I think the PR was about half of what people were expecting.

My hobby case had:
1 Mother's Day Pink
2 Blacks
1 Independence Days
7 SPs
1 HFA
2 Gold Inserts
3 Black Inserts
4 On Card Autos
#@#@#@#@ load of golds and foils.

Big 3 "out of stock"? LOL! There's literally warehouses of this stuff. Give it some time.

I know but you know how it goes. They will bring it back at a higher price.

Meanwhile, Topps.com still has regular hobby boxes available at $79.99. That's actually surprising. Why haven't THEY sold out??

I’d assume it’s because of a limit of 8? So no sealed cases and the shipping charges+ 3 week lead time on recent drops.

Because there’s a lot of it, the difference between retail and hobby is slim, and people are smart enough to know they will be able to get it for cheaper later. That being said, it appears to be a decent rip at $80.

Yea, I think $80 is actually very fair. The kicker is the extra shipping fees and such Topps adds that increase the true cost of the product.

This is true most of the time. But I ripped several cases of this. It is going to hold its value sealed. It is really solid. I don't think we see much of a pullback in pricing.

I want to rip more but know the law of averages will catch me.
Tempting fate I opened up four more jumbo and and four more hobby.
Definitely some nice boxes, but the duds are out there...

Out of 4 hobby, 2 were duds. But out of the other two I hit:
Salute to the Mick
JRod Gold /2022

Out of 4 jumbo, 2 were good, 1 was mid, 1 was a complete dud.
2 Good:
Bryson Stott SSP
JRod RC Debut Orange Foil /299
Oneil Cruz 1987 /50 Auto
Torkelson Silver Pack Auto
Suzuki SP
Jeremy Pena RC Debut Gold /2022

1 Mid:
Steven Kwan Baseball Stars Auto

1 dud:
Matt Chapman SP
Jon Heasley 1987 Auto (???)

For those opening jumbos, what are the thoughts on the jumbo RC boxloaders? Of the six boxes I opened, 3 of the cards were banged up including Ohtani, Griffey and Gwynn. I really liked the tek cards last year and hoping that would be continued.

I hate any and all box loaders that aren't normal size cards. They just really anger me for some reason.

Agreed, demand is crazy compared to almost anything else right now. I think it's not selling out $80 on Topps website both because no sealed cases and the account limit but primarily because most of the general public isn't looking there. Any hobby box/case $105 per or less on ebay sells out pretty quickly. Also 9 AM Monday now and still none of the big 3 have hobby or jumbo loaded, which usually means they aren't easily restocking a ton of it at prices where they won't have to raise theirs.

And just as you post cases back up at BO for $1450 jumbo.

Ill happily rip piles of retail at or below srp, better value than hobby or jumbo.

Flagship will lose momentum once update chrome comes out

Just played with some numbers as I'm contemplating a purchase.. the per card price is interesting when comparing hanger/blaster/hobby/jumbo... obviously hobby comes with auto-or-relic, and jumbo comes with auto+2 relic... but based on some prices of this and another competing site...

Hanger case (64 hangers) at $800 = $.18/card
Blaster case @ $1000 = $.26/card
Hobby at $80 (topps site) = $.24/card
Jumbo case (BO $1450) = $.29/card

Not comparing apples-to-apples completely, as i'm using 3 case prices and 1 box price, but close enough. I see the value in hangers for sure.. just less guarantees

It will lose forward momentum, because the "new" will be worn off. But it won't reverse course. Worse case scenario has this stalling in a few weeks. I don't think there is a pullback of any kind. I wish there was one. I would buy a bunch more. Not counting on it though.

Will there be, or are there, fat packs this year? Historically, those cases were usually the best on a price-per-card basis.
