I would assume he is there to eat innings. Especially with Olsen now out. Carpenter is back and had a good day today. Meadows is back on IL, which will actually improve their lineup at least offensively.

Tigers are now on a 4 game winning streak with a sweep on the Diamondbacks. Are we done panicking now or are we going to overact the other way.

I would like to see a bullpen arm get added.

Oh yeah, Tigers should add a #2 starter, a veteran top 10 HR slugger, and 3 relievers. But not give up top prospects. Don’t forget to ask for the whipped cream on that awesome pie in the sky.

Nice initial outing for Paddack today. Ya never know what Fetter can whisper I guess.

I think a bullpen arm is at a minimum to be expected, maybe more.

Or maybe not, if they're going to wait on Clark/McGonigle.

Casey Mize: 10 ER in 7 IP.
Riley Greene: turning into Joey Gallo before our eyes. Strikeouts in half his at-bats.
Colt Keith: Four total hits; none extra-base. (.375 OPS against lefties on the season)
Zach McKinstry: Lol @ thinking he was legit.
Javy Baez: He swung at this pitch:

Scott Harris is going to sit on his hands at the deadline; MAYBE he'll scrounge for one more bullpen arm. Probably somebody who tops out around 93 even though this pen has among the lowest rates of swing and miss in the entire league.

This team has one and a half seasons left of Skubal before he leaves to get the richest contract for a pitcher in history. We know it isn't gonna be with Detroit. If they aren't gonna go all-in while he's here, they might as well trade him. It'll be clear that the timeline for Harris is with Max Clark and McGonigle, not the guys already in place.
The Tigers haven't lost since this post!

Continuing my victory lap as Cleveland's falling apart to gambling, Minnesota is selling off and we still have the largest division lead!

Suarez to Seattle - huge overpay by the Moroners.

Are those three prospects good? I don't know anything about them. Regardless, I was in the minority in that I didn't really want him especially with the likely cost for a rental.

They gave up their #9, 16, and 17 prospects. One of them at least is probably good.

Adding Kyle Finnegan, it would appear.

Two 25 year old relievers (one was in rookie ball this year) and a first baseman who's hit pretty well in the minors.

I know Seattle's top eight is who they really care about and they didn't give up anybody from that group. It was a worthwhile gamble for the M's.

ok cool. When hairy said 9,16,17 - it looked like a good deal for the Mariners. That isn't a ton to pay for guy producing even if it is a rental.

Yeah, it wasn't much. The David Bednar return for Pittsburgh wasn't much.

It's crystal clear that Harris is only gonna dumpster dive and focus on reclamation projects rather than sure things. He could have done more to bolster this team and he chose not to. Teams are not getting fleeced out here for the most part.

Even that Mason Miller trade makes sense for San Diego even though it sounds like a lot on paper.

OK, so? Is this really how dense you are?

He had an abysmal April, once you get past that he's been a perfectly reasonable backend starter. He's been better than your boy by far in the same timeframe.

Morton is a proven playoff guy. I don't know how much he has left. We will find out soon enough. It is low risk, so whatever.

It's never a overpay if they win a World Series. Good for Seattle At least they are trying unlike a lot of teams. Realistically how many prospects ever make it?

I explained this to a friend of mine furious at the deadline moves.

My opinion is that he probably thinks the team is ahead of schedule and doesn't want to trade the prospects off because he thinks he's building a dynasty type of run with the prospects he's got.

They're not going to all pan out, maybe half of them do, but he thinks he's got the CF, 2B, C, 1B, SS of the future and multiple good pitching prospects in Jobe, Melton and Hamm.

Harris thinks they can thread the needle of being contenders this year, start calling these guys up next year and moving all of these guys in by 2027 and go on a run of guys who cost nothing and are good. If he's wrong he'll get fired.

I'm not saying that I agree, I just think that's his mindset and his latest comments yesterday only reinforce that.

I think we have to give regularp some credit for sniffing this out sooner than either of us did - this indeed appears to be what Harris is thinking.

Brand new (as in, post-trade deadline) Harris interview in the Freep today:

https://www.freep.com/story/sports/m...s/85471045007/

I was surprised it wasn’t paywalled.

Who’s the CF of the future?
