all three players suck and SHOULD decrease over time

No wonder Ted Williams was such a good hitter, he could move each eye separately like a chameleon....

I think prices are kept low because of condition concerns. Some less than stellar looking cards have been sold for high prices as well. When there's a good card out there, the prices reflect it.

It would be interesting to see a one-off SP lower than Markakis. I wonder if it would immediately go for more than Markakis or lower the price of #6. I would think the new card would have more in better condition.

Well, I managed to ding the black corner on a Beuhler while putting it in a penny sleeve. That’s some real talent there!

No card will ever be more valuable than Markakis.
The way I see it, if we ever get a card with a PR lower than #6, it likely means TLS is in trouble, and headed in the wrong direction.

While I think the scrub PRs will come down from where they are currently, I hope we don't get anything under 3000.

Depends if the bulk buyers buy less quantity or presellers stop preselling for $4.50🤣🤣🤣🤣

I updated the pricing for the week on TheLivingSet.com

The average sale price of the set for the week is roughly 1.35% less than last week.

The week's big movers (besides last week's set) are Sogard +33%; and Ramirez +22%. Biggest Losers are Harper -34.75% and Jackie Robinson -25%.

Last week's set (52-54) is now selling for 30% or more than they were when initial pricing was established (7/17/18).

To check out the new pricing (as well as percentage change) - Check out TheLivingSet.com

Excellent information. Well done, and thank you!

I believe we will continue to see an average decline in prices for a while. It will be a very long time before these cards “dry up”.

Thanks! I think you're right- I would not be surprised if Average Set Price Stays consistent or drops $1-200 (even with the constant increase of 3 cards/week)

It is a tricky thing when an artist only uses one image as reference. You can follow a photo too closely, I have done so in the past myself. It always pays to thoroughly research the player you are painting, especially a Hall Of Famer like Ted Williams.
I've been following Mayumi Seto's instagram page, and noticed that she wrote a long note on her Ted Williams Topps Living post.
It's in Japanese, but with myself being Japanese, I'll try to translate as close as possible to what it is supposed to mean in English.

This is the first time I've seen her post something like this, but she probably have received some harsh words since the Living Set program started (though probably getting much more of praise), and probably felt the need to express her feelings this time.

*I'm not saying Monty's comments were "insult"ing. I think it is a good observation of the work. But I'm sure that there are bunch of other people who will use the similar logic but even go further to make it an insult.

I make the sketches every week accordingly with the reference image sent by Topps.

The Ted Williams image sent by Topps this time was of him having beautiful, blue clear eyes. It was so blue, that for someone like me having the impression of his eyes being brown, it was a bit confusing, but I decided to sketch as per the reference image, with light blue colors on his eyes.

Looking at figures / bobbleheads or cards during this period of the reference image, there actually are some that show his eyes being blue. However, most can only be seen as brown. It differs depending on the item or the era that the goods were made in.

Some people argue and even get mad at me saying that "this doesn't look like him", "it's a totally different person", but from the image given by Topps, his eyes really do look this much beautiful, blue and clear.

The original reference image (photograph) I received even shows stronger contrast of the color than those you can find on the internet.

With the effect of lighting during players' photo ops, eye color or the tone of eye color can change. Maybe when the photos were taken in this reference image, his face was hit by strong photoflash, and that maybe the reason why his eyes look so blue. The image can be seen on the internet too, so please look for them. Though those will have a bit darker eyes than the photo I have in hand.

I trust the reference image sent by Topps each week, and that is what I base my sketch on. The like/dislike against my work is totally up to personal preference so that is fine, but it is very sad/upsetting when people insult my works without knowing the background/situation.

Each week, whatever reference image it may be, I try to sketch it in a way that the work becomes as close as possible, or to express in a way as close as possible, to the reference image given to me.

Thanks for this translation. She seems to be very knowledgable about all aspects of art and photography. Not only can eyes be affected by lighting but also in printing. She’s a fantastic artist.
Best Always,

I concur with Vinny as well, Ms. Seto is perfect for this set.

Thanks for sharing her response!

I remember getting flack for painting a Gypsy Queen art/relic card of Pujols with the #4 showing on his Jersey. I know he is #5 but I had to use the image Topps sent me (which was from a game that was played on April 15 - Jackie Robinson day, so he was sporting #42 even though the 2 was obscured).

I certainly didn't mean for my comments to sound mean or insulting. We all want this set to look the best that it can, and I personally hope that Ms. Seto is well compensated by Topps for all of her efforts. Topps is making a killing off of her labor, she definitely deserves the lion's share of the profits, Imho.

Came home from a week on the road to find 3 weeks of sets, 48-54, waiting for me. All caught up and packed impeccably. Good job, Topps!

It's nice not having to check the corners and edges every week. Now I just make sure I get the quantity I ordered and pay little attention to the condition.

His eyes actually look that way in the reference picture. I am not sure how that can even happen. I don’t think Ted had a lazy eye?
