Awesome gem rate! Unlike what some others have reported. Is it possible, as a generalization, that lower gem rate is related more so to whether a card is shiny or not and maybe not as much as "pop control"? With a little bit related to the number of cards a given submitter has submitted over time (experience pre-screening cards)?

Could be, but this was also my first bulk order I submitted after acquiring a better magnifier. So these were definitely looked over more than usual.

In all fairness, my Gem Rate plummeted too and I didn't change my technique. I figured they were getting tougher, so I had to adjust as well.

Did you get a higher magnification or what was the upgrade on the equipment? Did you scrutinize that batch of cards more?

Is it normal for an express order to be sitting in q2 all week?

I went from a hand held 10x magnifier with LED to a 20x with LED that clamps to my desk.

Easier to inspect with both hands free. Same amount of time inspecting, but the process is actually easier and faster since you don't have to pick up the magnifier each time.

For sure about being hands free...that allows one to view the card at different angles to check surface against the light...great tip!

I cracked open one of my cards that graded PSA 8 and looked it over with my new 30x handheld magnifier with led light I can't see anything wrong with the edges or corners, centering is pretty much dead on, and surface is perfect looking at it with a 8000 lux led light right next to the card. I also found very weird that one of the cards had graded PSA 7, it went straight from pack to sleeve and card saver but after receiving it back a whole top edge is messed up, it has black edges so it's very visible. I'm confused because I don't see why I would have sent it knowing it was that bad.

Update.

I have the following Value orders in. All June and July Orders are grading!

6/10 PSA received Value Modern 160 cards, research, Grading 9/11, ,Assembly 10/22, QA1 10/26, QA2 10/29, Popped **10/31 GEM RATE 26% 42/160 OUCH, but the psa 10 were the bigger dollar cards. Thankfully.

6/10 PSA received Value Ultra Modern 150 cards, research, Grading 9/15,Assembly 10/12 QA1 CHECK 10/13/QA2 CHECK 10/14** Popped **10/17 GEM RATE 66% 101/150

6/10 PSA received Monthly special 200 cards research, Grading 9/18, Assembly 10/30, QA1 11/4, QA2 11/5,[B] **Grading popped 10/6*** Gem Rate was 35% Low but this was WOTC pokemon, PSA 10+ PSA 9 was 65% with first editions

7/23 PSA received Value Modern 160, research, Grading 10/23, Assembly 12/15
7/23 PSA received Value Ultra Modern 140 cards, research.Grading 10/23

8/13 PSA received Value Ultra Modern 200 cards, Research.

Also have Economy orders

8/12/2020 PSA received 35 cards in grading 9/7, Assembly 10/30, **QA1 11/3, QA2 11/4 Grades popped, 11/9 GEM RATE 68% 24/35 PSA !0

9/10/2020 PSA received 15 cards in grading 10/8

I had 2 orders sit Q2 for week as well...funny part is only took 2 days to complete everything else. (express order).

Since when did the 15 club vouchers take so long to grade? I sent mine in back in September and it's been in research since 10/22.. I always thought the vouchers was the express/expedited service?
