that says more about the current state of sports "fans" than anything else.

I don’t like the Qatar/Saudi influence on the game either, but what can you do? At the end of the day it’s about what happens during the actual game that 99% of people care about. People aren’t gonna sit around and be miserable just because a couple clubs are state funded

If he delivers the first ever UCL trophy for PSG, that is a massive accomplishment. Any other talking points don’t matter if that happens.

People very quickly forgot, or avoided talking about, the titles Real Madrid won under the regime of dictator Franco (their 5 firsts UCL).

Nobody forgets. Nobody avoids talking about it either.

Regarding Mbappé, I was convinced that he was going to sign in Madrid and I did not blame him because this choice seemed logical.

He stayed in Paris, explained why, and I understand his choice.
Again I never said it was the right choice, but anyway there is no right choice. If he would have gone to Real and not won, he would also have been criticized. Only victory shuts mouths. So I'm trying to explain his choice, which isn't just money, but also has a part in the sporting project and several parameters (Learning next to Messi, the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the possible UEFA sanctions against Madrid because of their Super League project, etc ...).
He thinks he can make his club and his city win and he gives himself the chance to try. They arrived in the Final against Bayern and could have won if he had won his head to head with Neuer. It's not impossible that they return to the final once again.

So yes, it's shocking for lot of people because "we can't refuse Real" but he made this choice. He wants to write his own story to stand out from the others. It's a risky bet, if he succeeds, congratulations to him, otherwise too bad for him and the club. That's all, before you shoot him, let's see what's going to happen.

To finish, about the Hobby (since it's still the most important here), personally I've never made money with it. I have never sold a card because I only buy what interests me, I collect that's all. So I don't care about the impact of his choice on the price of his cards. Or on the contrary, the cheaper it is, the more I can buy!

The folks here crying their eyes out about Mbappe's decision (citing know-nothing pundits on sports shows) and crying "culty" sound just like the folks who cried about Giannis Antetokounmpo's decision to stay in Milwaukee. "He can't win there!" "He needs to go to a bigger market!" "So much for his legacy!" "Sniffle sniffle waaaaah!"
Giannis promptly won a title in Milwaukee, and shut those critics up. It's possible we could see a similar story here. It's not like PSG is *not* going to keep going all out to win.

Mbappe passed on joining the lone remaining super team in an extremely top-heavy league to stay with the lone super team in an extremely top heavy league, but that latter league is in his home country. Sounds like a pretty reasonable decision to me. Not saying it *will* work out for him, but it certainly could. Folks saying it absolutely *won't* work out for him sound like the zealots here. You can't predict the future.

I promise you will never lose a penny in this market, if you continue with this strategy!

I would guess La Liga is sponsored by Massengill based upon what I've seen in this thread.

Let’s just say the 2016 Panini Foot stickers blister pack and 2017 Select Hobby Box can not currently not be found at your local Target or Walmart!

These 2 sealed products and 2 PSA 10 singles ( 2017 Topps chrome and 2018 panini Prizm World Cup) represent a combo of the licensed possible “true” rookies of Mbappe (determining a single main rookie card for him has yet to be decided on by collectors - its a mess!)

Default The Perennial Kylian Mbappé Thread

Super happy with this card I just got back from PSA. Pop 1. In fact I haven’t seen any other Mbappe on card autos like this on any other cards so far.

After his 2018 Prizm W/C Blue Prizm PSA 10 sold last night for 13k+, I was not expecting this, from this card today...just wow.

IMO a steal at that price.

For the longest time these two cards, in that color parallel, in that grade were essentially neck and neck.

I would rather have this one.

Is it me but that topps 2018 card design has become iconic, with the all of those rookies

That's the 2017 design, and yep it's a classic, the parallels look so good in hand.

Definitely a fan of the 2017-18 Topps design. It's iconic in 2018 baseball as well.

Indeed, an iconic design because of that year's rookie class -- namely Ohtani and Mbappe (now arguably the faces of their respective sport).

Not my card, but a gorgeous Mbappe Color Wheel pullled yesterday.

So, this one's a bit perplexing to me...last week a Prizm Blue 10 sold for over 13k. Day later, a UEFA Blue 10 sold for under 7.5k. Huh?

Unless I'm totally out of touch, haven't these two cards been considered close to equal in value, and selling for around the same price over the past few years? We're obviously in a down market right now -- is the looming World Cup really keeping the Prizm Blue propped up that much more than the UEFA Blue?

Would love to hear thoughts on this one. Thanks.

Thats bizarre because the Orange Prizm, PSA 9 went for $2640, so the Orange was either a really big steal or someone way overpaid for that Blue...
