While true, there has been nothing to appreciate about Trout since 2019 outside of an abbreviated 2022 season.

Trout's WAR really didn't benefit from him playing center field. The positional adjustment for playing CF is +2.5 runs over 1,350 innings played -- that's a pittance.
He wasn't a good defender in CF, so he didn't really accumulate any value playing the position -- 2.7 bWAR and about 1.3 fWAR. That compares to an oWAR of 86.4. If he had played exclusively in LF his whole career and was average defensively, he would have lost only about 6 bWAR (11,530 innings played in CF / 1,350 innings = 8.54 x -7 runs) = -59.7 runs / 10 runs) = -6 WAR) He would still have 80 bWAR and been statistically deserving of multiple MVPs. |

The chance of a bump is probably very, very low, so I think it should be done only if there's a big increase in value if the grade goes up. Unfortunately they don't re-holder the card during a Review, unless the grade goes up. I've sent one that did not get bumped, and it was returned in the original (very old) PSA holder. If PSA cracked it out regardless, which I think they should since they are charging the grading fee, then I would try it more often. At least then we would get some value/service for the fee paid, even if the grade stays the same. A successful 'Review' resulting in a grade bump will retain the same cert#. I've had one success:

Total tangent to thread topic but if you want a newer holder isn’t there a way to submit and pay a reholder fee?

I’m pretty sure I used their “Value plus special” for $35 + $40 to ship Fedex both ways. The shipping fees suck on a single item order. I think previously when I looked into a review the grading fee was $75 so perhaps it’s come down since that point. Fyi, most advice I read is to crack & resubmit which I obviously didn’t do, but I was scared of damaging the card. It likely wouldn’t have mattered. Good luck to you & to Trout, I’m optimistic he has a helluva bounce back and healthy year. |
