Minutes aside he could have done a lot more tonight.

At least Florida fans are smart enough to Boo Bettman. I remember when the Kings won and they cheered, he looked like he didnt know what to do.

McDavid wins MVP. As much of a fanboy as I am, I’m surprised they didn’t give it to Bob.

For sure. Just not his night. But the guy was on ice more than anyone else outside of the goalies. My comment was on conditioning.

Happy for Paul. Had a lot of good teams in Carolina and Winnipeg that couldn't break through

Florida managed not to blow it, Mcdavid holders have another accolade to push their YG's etc.

I'd say it all worked out in the end

Great job by the FLA defense making the sacrifices needed to win the Cup.

Really questionable coaching by EDM. Should have pulled the goalie way earlier.

Connor for Conn Smythe was a joke. Bad look for the NHL.

Amazed at the FLA fans who sold their seats rather than attend that game. This is the one game you want to attend.

Seeing Tkachuk crying in the stands was pretty touching. A good hockey family name is added to the Cup.

Excellent final game. McDavid put up numbers, but not when it truly mattered, but he was extended as far as he could be, just couldn't get there. It's a cruel fate for so many great players who don't get the final win, and he may be destined to be in that group. Time will tell.

It's hard to see how Edmonton keeps this group together and can sign their best and get the missing piece(s). This may be as good as it gets. Again, time will tell.

The big takeaway may still be that defense wins.

Defense wins because the refs start putting the whistles away and they let minor obstruction/interference slide, among other things. Makes it hard to win in that reality, even when you have the best offensive players in the league. They almost pulled it off but ultimately, better defense/goaltending won the game.

You can debate whether Skinner should have stopped Reinhart’s shot. Kulak definitely backed in waaaaay too deep, but the shot wasn’t exactly a blister either. And it seems like Skinner gives up way too many of these types of goals. Then again, this is only his 2nd full season.

Nurse is more clear-cut, they need to find a way to move him. Hopefully the emergence of Broberg might pave the way for that. McDavid might be friends with him but he has to accept that this may be something that needs to happen.

The Florida defense was insane last night. It was like they had an extra guy on the ice most of the game.

Surprised to see many peeved over McDavid winning MVP. He was far and away the best player in the playoffs. I think Bob would have won it had they closed it out in games 4 or 5, but he got absolutely torched 3 straight games while McDavid dragged his team back from the brink.

Regardless - it's for the entire playoffs, not just 1 game or 1 series.

McDavid probably has another 5+ good years in him, but there's definitely a chance this was his best opportunity when it's all said and done. To me the biggest bummer was Draisaitl, who completely disappeared the last 15 games when he should have been a top 4 player in the Final. The Oilers became too 1 dimensional when it mattered most.

I didn't look really hard, but was there an "official count" of Conn Smythe votes last night?

Don't get me wrong, McDavid had a great post season, but my gut is telling me that there were probably 3-4 Panthers that could've gotten votes and maybe just cancelled each other out.

Going into Game 4, it was Bob's trophy to lose, but I think post Game 4, you could have made a case for Bob, Barkov, Rodrigues, Verhaeghe and/or Tkachuk

Here you go, but warning it's ugly;

Matheson for Postmedia should lose his voting ability (McDavid, Hyman, Bouchard)

McDavid winning Conn Smythe is a gift from the NHL. He had 3 scoreless games against the Panthers, 3 losses. And the last 2 games was scoreless. If Sam Bennett had the exact total of points, he won't win the Conn Smythe. He won't say it, but McDavid was gassed the last 2 games.

Who should have won it instead? It's not a trophy for the Finals.
