The quote actually refers to a specific tax dispute between the General Assembly and Governor William Penn. It was written as a pro-defense and pro-taxation argument. The Penn family did not feel it should be asked to pay a tax to help defend the frontier during the French & Indian War. Franklin's words signal a belief that the legislature should be permitted to govern for the good of all the people in order to provide for collective security, and therefore, the tax was just.

Interesting. I didn't know the origin of that quote, I just like it. But that is good knowledge, thank you.

It doesn't mean that Biden has been elected but it does mean for the history books, this one will officially become won by Joe Biden today.

That said, there is a pending lawsuit out of the state of Georgia that is the first real credible lawsuit from the Trump campaign and it is the first real threat to Joe Biden winning the state of Georgia. The Trump campaign has identified no less than 20,000 voters (I do not know the exact number) in the state of Georgia that they believe should never have been allowed to vote. This appears to be real data, and real people and their lawsuit portends to show real reasons why these people should not be allowed to vote based on Georgia law.

It's not going to win Trump the election but considering the margin in GA, it does represent the first real challenge Trump has offered up in this bevy of nonsense and krakens.

Will be interesting to follow.
Everything I can find on this lawsuit suggests it's more of the same, more nonsense, more allegations without proof. I guess we'll see, but I definitely wouldn't be betting on anything holding water. More "Wolf" cries.

This one will be tossed quickly as well. I'm expecting judges to use words like "baseless", "unfounded", and "c'mon".

It's going to be fun to see the TrumperTantrums when he loses Georgia for the fourth time, haha.

People can't just do whatever and expect to keep their job. Employment is a privilege. Do right by your employer or beat feet.

Entitled to a job? People shouldn't have to worry about losing their job because they have different opinions over someone else. Imagine losing your job for saying, "All Lives Matter" and keeping your job for saying, "Black Lives Matter".

These same companies are keeping employees because they are publicly saying something that turned off a percentage of people. The difference is, the owner supports it.

You have to walk a thin line nowadays, especially in a world where companies left and right are having "diversity training" aka here's one side and that's the only side that matters, but we want to have open dialogue. Heck no, I'm not falling for that bait.

There's no national plan of any kind. Its all the states hands. Trump doesn't have a national plan for problems. Cant blame everyone else for the failures if his administration has a plan being carried out.

Kudos to Pfizer and Moderna for declining Trump's credit-taking PR summit. They're not sending any reps, not even lowly ones. Good on them!

It's amazing to me that companies (as well as athletes in the last four years, and others) have declined invitations to the White House to celebrate achievement and excellence; yet the social media society continuously tries to prop up the "accomplishment" of people who have done absolutely nothing.

You will find that in a Biden admin; nearly 100% of the people on both left and right who are invited to the White House to receive praise, will do so. And that will be true no matter what kind of President, Biden shows himself to be.

If you were a private employer (maybe you are, lol idk), would you feel entitled to hire or fire based on what your employees say publicly? Or would you feel like your employees can say whatever, wherever, and you as the employer have no authority to hold them accountable for what their statements do to your business?

Employees of private companies conduct themselves in accordance with company policy or they get fired. And that is the way it should be.

Employers decide this stuff, not employees.

Again, you should be firing everyone who is publicly saying something to your point. The Sacramento Kings firing their announcer for saying "All Lives Matter" but the NBA allowing "Black Lives Matter" run their sport, is a double-standard of epic proportions. Both can have negative effects on their business, yet one keeps their job and one loses it.

So you are suggesting that Pfizer and Moderna are working with the states individually???

It goes back to what was said earlier. All or none should be fired. But unfortunately only one side of the argument is being chastised.

Yeah, I would personally be firing them on both sides.

But, I feel like it's up to them to decide for themselves when their employee has harmed their business. The employee isn't entitled to keep their job in either instance.

It is, it's not about that though. People shouldn't have to live in fear of losing their job because they may post something on Facebook that doesn't fits a narrative.

Also, people shouldn't feel entitled to work. That mindset needs to go. If you want to fire me because I disagree with what president is better, fine. I'll find something better. Have some dignity.

New York putting a bill in to mandate vaccines to people who are deemed safe. If they are safe, why do they need a vaccine?

Republican Tenney with a 12-vote lead; still waiting on a littany of rulings from the judge in the case to determine the viability of these ballots as well as thousands of other challenged ballots from the race, including ones where sticky notes fell off so the district has no idea if they were counted and whether or not they're "real" votes at all.

No end in sight, more ballots to find!
But remember this election hasn't been a cluster. It's all made up by Trump. I'm sorry regardless of the fraud or no fraud argument this election cycle has been nothing short of nuts and should have been handled a lot better.

"Once the United States food and drug administration's center for biologics evaluation and research and the New York state clinical advisory task force have approved the safety and effectiveness of a covid-19 vaccination and promotion and distribution plans of such vaccine have begun pursuant to the department's covid-19 vaccination administration program, if public health officials determine that residents of the state are not developing sufficient immunity from COVID-19, the department shall mandate vaccination for all individuals or groups of individuals who, as shown by clinical data, are proven to be safe to receive such vaccine."

Kinda scary IMHO.

Disagree completely. Everyone is free to say what they want. Dont mistake that for being free of the consequences of saying what you want. You don't get some cloak of ignorance that protects you for whatever you say. The internet enables too much anonymity.

I'll say it for the third time. If you say "All Lives Matter" and lose your job, and I say "Black Lives Matter" and keep mine, then there's a major issue there. What's the merit for firing that person and keeping the other?

Apparently you're not saying it clear enough or they don't want to understand because they don't agree.

I will take the latter

Agreed. They rescinded religious exemption to vaccination already so this move continues NY down the road of mandated compliance.
