Default 1992 MARVEL MASTERPIECES 30th Anniversary Book

[QUOTE=Xazark;19482531
Maybe the auto is not on the book itself, on the slipcase or something. I've asked them the question for them to clarify hopefully get a response soon[/QUOTE]

Interested to hear what they say. You might be right that it’s on the slipcase. The more I think about, the less I have any idea what to expect with these. A lot was said over the months regarding custom slipcases, different versions of arts on the books, etc. I have no idea what will actually end up being true- it’ll be a total surprise when they arrive in hand at this point.

I also agree with others my excitement will be there basically when the package is on my doorstep, and not a moment before.

Not much an answer they gave, I saw. Maybe they didn’t understand the question

Default 1992 MARVEL MASTERPIECES 30th Anniversary Book

Soo…now that we are heading towards the end of June, what are peoples thoughts. Any chance at all this book comes by end of June as they were saying with fair certainty? Haven’t heard a peep, including any response to Xazark’s question about the signatures. What are the chances this really comes by end of June (well out to mid July per the update language)?

This book was said to be finished way back in Dec. And supposedly in transit since then.

It could happen. Anything is possible.

Or FPG will post another update in July promising another vague date for the books to arrive, maybe throwing in an excuse out of the blue like the comment blaming Marvel for only supplying 30% of the scans for the original art that had never been mentioned before.

A fun thought experiment while we wait: What would FPG do if I demanded a cancellation and refund now after having received the extras/freebies. Yes, I have some nice pieces of metal but FPG has my $300 and I still don't have my signed and numbered, limited edition slipcased book that was supposed to ship in April 2023. Would they demand I send back the extras? Deduct the cost from the refund? I didn't pay for the extras, they're extras. I paid for the book, which I don't have.

A better experiment: I should just unfollow this thread. Every time I see an update in my email I think it is something positive. When it arrives, it arrives.

(OK, not really an experiment, but you get the idea!)

Anything is possible, true. I mean they were pretty adamant that these books are getting here end of June. I will say, they did come through with the bronze cards being sent out, and the paintings for OA backers, so it’s not like they aren’t doing anything. But it is totally unclear what is going on with the book, and sounds like we aren’t being told everything.

You make a valid point with your thought experiment, and I’m pretty sure this is actively going on with their abrupt forced cancellations/refunds I’ve seen regarding anyone questioning things on the Kickstarter comment section. I have noticed at least one after the bronze cards were delivered. So I’m pretty sure that’s happening. I have no idea if they are demanding the items sent back but that doesn’t sound practical and sounds like an uphill battle to climb.

Well let’s see if they get here by late June/mid July I guess.

Edit: or apply your thought experiment to a cancel/refund for an OA backer who already has the painting itself in hand. I mean what even happens there, would be a doozy.

Default 1992 MARVEL MASTERPIECES 30th Anniversary Book

(Sorry to glorb, as this is, as predicted, not a positive update- unfollowing the thread might be a good idea indeed)

It is now the end of June. Nothing.

The update in early June specifically said confirmation was received the books are getting there end of June to mid July. I do not believe anything that is being said.

Still have to mid July, but for a few reasons I won’t go into here, I am pretty sure that’s also now almost impossible. Being now the end of June, we haven’t even heard anything formally through the Kickstarter (would think a company who was telling us end of June all this time, and now being end of June, would communicate something at this point).

For the first time, I am wondering if we won’t ever get the books. I am starting to have some serious doubts. Up until now I’ve been sort of buying into the books are just very delayed etc….now…I am starting to think we are just being told things that aren’t even true, and being led on. Almost every month saying the books will be here by end of next month, and then it doesn’t happen every time. The handling of this project has been ridiculous (for other reasons too, which I don’t want to go into at the moment).

Hopefully I’m wrong and it miraculously gets shipped by mid July….but again…almost certain not gonna happen. What happened to the “confirmation” the books are getting there, that we were just told?

It is one thing for a Kickstarter project to be delayed 1 to 2 years. It is another thing for it to be delayed that long, and almost every month during those years being told we are getting the books very soon/next month for it not to happen.

I've been skeptical that we'll get the book for quite some time. I remain flabbergasted at FPG's lack of communication and transparency. Truly unprofessional practically from the start.

It is super unprofessional. And not only is the communication mysterious, in some cases bizarre, and often not accurate, but when a backer (who is helping fund the entire thing and making it possible) inquires into anything, they in several cases are silenced, posts deleted/censored, and pledge canceled. What a way to run a project.

Some people have thousands of dollars into the project. Regardless of whether it’s just $59 or thousands, it’s frustrating as a backer, but it hurts extra much when thousands of dollars are on the line, for a project to be handled like this, and possibly end up with no book at the end, unless a miracle happens.

are they still using the "supply chain" issues excuse? At this rate, we'd be lucky to get the book this year.

It’s hard to say because they are saying next to nothing in terms of actual specifics. According to them (I believe almost nothing said), the books were finished last Dec. There comes a point when that basically can’t be possible… if it’s in 2025, are we still supposed to believe the books were done Dec, 2023? Where is a pic of a finished book? (Or any decent communication?)

They were/are using the supply chain excuse, but when they respond through the Kickstarter it’s a carousel of like 5 people responding, so it’s hard get a consistent source of info in any of this. Sometimes it’s Joe himself…and randomly out of nowhere the delay is now because they only had like 30% of the original painting scans for the book according to him, which I don’t remember being communicated up until now all this time.

At this point I’m wondering if they’re even solvent.

So I assume if I go to the Kickstarter and ask pointed questions, that my contribution will be canceled. But will I get refunded? Seems like it may be just a quicker way to get my money back.

Phewww…now that is an update, with the pics of the books.
I saw the post here first and I thought, here’s another end of next month type thing….then saw the update, and the pics of the books.

With everything else that’s happened, I was wondering if they were gonna come through with the different covers for each tier and custom slipcases for OA tier etc….looks like they are actually are. Very, very cool. Gotta give them props for that.

Can’t tell if OA round 2 cover will be a different one, or the same Wolverine one as round 1. I don’t see anything else besides the 3 in the pic, which leads me to think it’s the Wolverine.

I’m excited to finally see these books in person.
