This mic'd up playoffs edition is really revelatory, it's like watching all the series again. I will be doing a writeup on the Pacers segments in the usual thread in a while.

5/224 for Mobley. Absolutely insane to see guys who are good, not great, getting almost $50M a year.

Which is why Precious Achiuwa and a bunch of other middies are still sitting around scratching their heads, probably ultimately taking smaller deals than they could have signed a couple months ago.

You pay some players way more, you pay the support cast less. America of the last 30 years in a nutshell.

The minute Wagner for 225/5 you knew Mobley was getting it

But I agree with you in concept

Left hand middle reliever is still better. Way more bang for your buck

I said the same when Wagner got his deal. These are semi-stars who are getting deals that give them multi-generational wealth while they half ass the regular season and do nothing in the postseason.

They also prevent teams without amazing player dev programs that keeps top-class talent at rookie contracts and convince key pieces to take haircuts from winning.

I get it. I don’t disagree

Teams also can’t lose these guys. That’s just reality

That’s the way the NBA works these days

Jalen Green is going to be the fascinating one

Went to Slovenia a few weeks ago and saw this. Thought it was neat. I didn't see any Luka murals where I was in Ljubljana but I bet some exist.

I wanted to go see Giannis' neighborhood court in Athens when we made it to Greece but couldn't squeeze it in in the few days I was there. Maybe next time.

As a lifetime Rockets fan, I hope we stand our ground and not pay Jalen. I just don't believe he's a foundational cornerstone to build around. He made nice strides in the second half of last season, no doubt, but I'd rather just trade him at whatever decent draft package I could receive.

Give Amen, Reed, and Whitmore that much more minutes. Heck, even then you still have a glutton of youthful players that need/deserve time on the court, at least for development sake, if not outright winning's sake.

We have a good problem in Houston with what we now call The Core Seven, but you can't pay them all.

Sengun is the dude, and you let Jalen walk or get what you can.

Sixers add Reggie Jackson. This team is looking like a legit contender now after all of these moves and rookie pickups. Very happy this year

Still have trade assets to go all in at the trade deadline too

Alex Sarr’s final stats in the summer league: 9/47 FG 22.6% TS 3.8 PER “That PER mark was the worst of any first-rounder at summer league.”
If they did the draft over tonight, anyone aside from Ninja think he'd go in the top 8?

Team is going nowhere with Embiid as their “star.”

Top 8 probably but only because teams will always over draft athletic big men, regardless of their actual skill.

I will tell you what, though. Kel’el Ware is so much better than Sarr it’s not even funny. He looks like the best big man in this class by a wide margin

Not sure about wide margin. Clingan looked really good as well.

Meh, I don't see him being much different than Walker Kessler who everybody freaked out about but can't play outside of 3ft.

Clingan shot 35% from the floor in summer league. Yea he blocked a bunch of shots from guys who won't ever see NBA minutes. Other than him just being huge I don't see any upside

Big men who aren't switchable onto the perimeter or able to shoot a jumper are fine in the regular season or on bad teams but that's it

The entire Clingan bandwagon made no sense. A thinner, more mobile Edey but not athletic enough to hang with the Wembys and Chets or strong enough to bang with Embiid or AD.

I was just saying he's not that far off from Ware as an incoming rookie/prospect, for different reasons. In no way implying he'll be able to play with Wembanyama, Holmgren, or Embiid.
