I pulled my 2018 Chrome Update red refractor of him from eBay and Myslabs.
Had a lot of views and watchers on eBay, as well as some offers, but they didn't seem enough for me to let go in those platforms.

The last gold #/2018 sold for $2750 as a best offer. There's one on myslabs for $2750. Lowest US175 PSA-10 on myslabs is $3000. Recent ebay around $2900 it would appear. So those are not too far off, with the trout having reached higher, and the Soto just coming up into the 2500+ range. I'd probably rather have the Trout, head-to-head. But you could probably sell the Trout, buy the Gold Soto 10, and come out about even. So try to find a trade partner. Good luck with that!

I'm not sure you're getting any other US300 parallel PSA-10 straight up. Rainbow foil is worth less for sure. All others are low pop and a lot more $.

Rainbow Foil PSA-10 + Hands on Hips (SP) PSA-10 = maybe?

Maybe I should also think about PSA 9 or BGS 9.5 for US300 parallel. I do have a PSA 9 US300 gold so having a 10 isn't a must have but if a good deal comes up I might have to think about it.

Using Trout 2009 BDPP Autos as a comp:

most recent BGS 9.5 Ref Auto /500 Trout: $29,188 (ended 10/4)

most recent BGS 9.5 Ref Auto /499 Soto: $6,700 (ended 12/29).

Soto is at a little under 23% of Trout prices in BCAs.

Oddly, a raw 2009 BDPP Trout Auto sold for $6,300 via auction on 10/24, and a Soto 2016 raw Chrome auto sold at $1675 on 12/15 and $2000 on 12/26. So, Soto is slightly closer to Trout when it comes to raw chrome autos.

Obviously Trouts don't seem to go to auction as often, and most are BGS rather than PSA (it would seem). Nonetheless, it would seem that (general market inflation aside) if Soto is indeed the next "all time great we are watching" like Trout is, there's still a decent chunk to go before he catches up to even half of Trout's prices.

Looking at PSA 10 Flagship RCs might be a better indication given that those are sold much much more often, and more regularly, so less prone to weird blips here and there.

Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and grade. I'll end up spending 10x on grading what I spent on the dang cards themselves, lol.

Assuming Soto stays on this trajectory of greatness, it won’t take all that long for the Bowman Chrome auto to reach Trout territory.

Thanks! Yeah, I had been watching it for a while too.
There are so few high end Soto parallels for sale that arent at ridiculous prices.
Might have overpaid but fortunately we were able to make a deal off of Ebay so saved some money for meals in 2021.

Is the Gold more valuable than the rainbow foil? I’m assuming print runs are similar?

Gold always outpaces foil. From what I recall, foil print runs are around 2200. So, between print run, gold being numbered, and gold being flagship’s original color parallel in the modern era...gold has several edges over foil.

Rainbow is 2100-2200. Gold is more condition sensitive, and the long standing Topps parallel. Rainbow looks better IMO. But everyone should own both.
