Random thought: I think the fight used mat relics Topps used to do were some of the coolest MMA cards ever made. The market obviously disagrees but I think it’s cool to pick some of them up for cheap especially ones from a memorable fight card. I just picked up a Josh Koscheck from UFC 143 for literally a couple bucks which was where both Max Holloway and Stephen Thompson made their promotional debuts.

I’m also excited to see my boy Sean Brady do work this weekend. Kind of shows you how out of touch Panini is that he has literally 0 cards.

He's not exactly fought anyone of note to be honest while he's been in the UFC.

Oh well. Your "boy" gets time to shine soon though against Chiesa!

I figure he will. I’ll gladly eat crow if he doesn’t. Chiesa is a great offensive grappler which is helped when he’s at a huge size/strength advantage. The strength part certainly won’t be on his side here. That being said for as amazing as he is offensively at grappling he’s almost as bad defensively with how many times he’s been submitted and with so little resistance when he does. He almost reminds me of Do Bronx in that aspect. In closing I think most would agree that a Daniel Gracie black belt>>>a James Weed purple belt.

I try not to get too caught up in hype trains but man this guy couldn't look more impressive so far. Only major question for me at this point is how his cardio holds up over 5 rounds. 170 must be a massive cut for him.

I hope him and Usman both win their next fights. I assume they'd be matched up at that point and I really want to see it.

I agree - very interested to see how he holds up in a 5 round war.

Didn't people say the same about Khabib? Answer - he destroys you.

He's going to get the win tonight, but good Lord, this was a boring fight to watch. I didn't know why half his wins were by decision, but now I know. Ugghhhhh.

30 more seconds and that was Chiesa's by KO - Brady's goose was absolutely cooked.

Luckily he'd done enough snooze fighting to win it.

Maybe BKFC is more your your thing because you missed out on a lot of skill. Which is what high level MMA is predicated on.

Brady had a nice night. He fought against a tough out and controlled a tough guy in the clinch on the ground, through transitions. No one does that to Chiesa.

Very solid win.

Seems like someone who thinks every fight should look like Griffin - Bonnar I. Even the very best have fights that don’t appeal to the casual fan. How many snoozefests did Anderson Silva, GSP, Khabib, Usman, etc. put people through? Quite a lot.

Lol. Yup. Its part of the game.

Fights like Chandler Gaethje are awesome because they dont happen all the time. And some of those "slobber knockers" are fights where technique goes out the window and its basically a backyard fight. Its not even "MMA" at that point.

Sometimes there is a game within the game where the skills take place where people just boo through and it drives me bonkers.

Like a grappling exchange where people are moving through positions or setting up submissions, if it takes longer than 15 seconds to get from half guard to side control people cant contain themselves.

Or when there are 2 high level strikers who are feeling themselves out for even 30 seconds and the "just bleed!!" crowd starts booing. Killer.

Izzy was talking about when he fought Anderson how people were talking ish because he "landed flush" but couldn't knock Anderson out ... and izzy revealed he was actually trying to punch Anderson not where he was but where he was going to be so even the punches that landed "flush" weren't actually "flush" shots.

Well said. One of my favorite recent fights was Gregor Gillespie vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira. Even though it ended in a finish it probably didn’t appeal to the casual fan but it was 10 minutes of hellacious non-stop high level grappling that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Wow. Garbrandt is done.

Two KO's by juice boy Dillashaw has done him in. His demolition of Cruz was epic.

RIP
