Once I saw Blowout had sealed cases for $45000... I figured box prices weren't far behind. It looks like $4000 might happen in the very near future. Wish I picked up one a couple months ago. That ship has sailed lol

Holy crap, one recently sold for $3700 and another is basically at that price (auction) with some time left on the listing.

These boxes are going to hit $4k soon. The real question is how high will they go?

2012-13 Prizm BKB hobby box levels?

Wow!!!! Why so high? Thought all the best cards have already been pulled? I remember looking at boxes on eBay for £450 and thinking that’s too much! Should have grabbed a few and stored them away! Just got one lonely sealed box in my possession

I think most people ended up ripping them and brought more from resellers and then ripped them as well! Lol!

I second this question. How can these still be going up if all the big cards have been pulled, or at least most of them?

It doesn't matter that some of the 1/1's have been pulled. When Max and Hamilton (and soon Leclerc I assume) /5's, /10's, /25's, /50's, /70's along with a variation of each of these, are doing well into the $10k+ range even in low grades, box prices will not stop. There are massive cards still sitting in boxes and always will be. 1/1's are simply a bonus.

Wish I grabbed a few back then! Honestly didn’t look at it as an investment! But when you think about it! It was a no brainer! Makes perfect sense! As you said the Max and Hamilton parallels and also Lando, Charles and maybe George cards are going up in value! As more boxes get ripped open, less on the market and good chance of pull those cards!

Just wondering what my lone sealed box currently contains

Plus another driver who has just 1 card in the set. No Grand Prix, No second base card, No variation and No Freshest... He will have all those in 2021. If he becomes what people expect... his 2020s will be very popular

The Charles hype and people blasting prices seems a bit over the top this early. It’s one race

Agreed. But Ferrari looks unbeatable after one race and LeClerc has some swagger.

Perfectly put

I second this

Prices are insane! Glad I opened my one box, as it yielded a card that will always be more valuable than the box price.

Could’ve easily went the other way though, so I consider myself lucky.

Down the road, is sapphire or regular hobby wax the big winner? They are heading toe to toe in the beginning, but sapphire is trending upward to $3500+, and regular hobby is top at $3000 recently.

That's tough.

Hobby has autographs. NO redemptions

Sapphire has really nice parallels with IV parallels.

In the long run I think the autographs win?

I personally prefer sapphire myself, but over time I can see chrome higher because of the autos

I also prefer sapphire but I don't care about sticker autos like some do.

I think they'll pace evenly.

Really can't predict how strong the f1 market is, especially other sports are cooling off for awhile.

Both '20 sapphire and hobby sell at $2500 before this season starts, and is thinking will cool down a bit when the '21 hobby and lite comes out. So, I didn't pre-order and want to pick up some '21 hobby & lite in later stage (like flagship goes downward) with '20 hobby at around $2000ish. However, it turns the opposite way, and pushed both '20 & '21 products up again. Just managed to get a couple lite boxes at $400, so bad, can't see this coming like that.

F1 market is extremely strong right now, but it seems like a lot of the people buying right now are new to the sport or have FOMO from last years release. A lot of people are buying off pure speculation over the hot new product and don't know much about the sport or drivers. We will see how this holds up.

I have been a F1 fan for a long time and was breaking a ton of dynasty and chrome last year at release. If this many people were interested in F1, the prices of last years Chrome boxes would of went up to $1300 within a month. It sat at $500-650 for months and then F1 started getting BIG after people saw the prices that some cards sold for. A lot of people trying to ride the wave and a few of the pumpers got in a month or 2 after F1 chrome release. It really turned me off to F1 cards in general. When someone tries to convince you that 2nd year F1 chrome is a better product than NBA Flawless I think the market has jumped the shark.

I don't know. I honestly think it is. F1 is truly global. They race everywhere. I bet if Ferrari or Mercedes did a rally/celebration at any race that they'd be completely full of fans. Great Britain, Italy, Australia, USA, Japan and Bahrain etc... pick any race. You think a Milwaukee Bucks rally/celebration would be as popular in Australia? Golden State Warriors in Italy? I'm not so sure those would be very popular.

You have to think global. NBA is a global sport...but F1 is way more popular. The F1 market is in its infancy. Before 2020 Topps Chrome... there wasn't much F1 cards on the market... Topps fixed that.

F1 is definitely a global sport. Big presence in Asia and Europe and growing presence in the US. Soccer is the biggest sport in the world but the card market still lags behind other sports.

I just think there is a lot of speculators and "new fans" in the F1 card market right now. I am keeping a very interested eye in how that translate further down the road. Long term I think 2020 F1 products are going to have a healthy future, I just see an adjustment coming.

These are great points but how much of an adjustment can come with supply so relatively limited with 20 chrome and sapphire?

I agree that I think there are a lot of speculators right now. And I also think it’s a lot of people just moving boxes back and forth. I haven’t looked closely at the numbers, but to me prices on singles don’t seem to translate to box prices when comparing to last year. It’s also interesting when looking at prices of Alonso cards. They’re holding a slight premium but not nearly as much as I would have thought.

I think people are trying to get in as soon as they can, as most are priced out on bigger cards. The more the bigger cards increase in price, the more the smaller ones do and box prices follow suit.

Soon, the avg joe won’t be able to afford the boxes or many of the ‘good’ singles to have from 2020, which forces them to 2021.

This is a big factor in growth. As the demand and prices increase, the more sought after these cards get.

The sooner people can get in, the better off they are. That being said, if that trend continues, I don’t see how the prices are ‘corrected’
