Guys ... this relief bill isn't gonna happen anytime soon. With the increase to un-employment benefits, some Republican senators are saying they won't vote for it because with not working earning more money THAN working ... it de-incentivizes employment, which cannot happen.

Still need changes.

New York contributes $1.4T (a little less than 8% of national GDP) and you are correct that generally, it makes more than it takes.

That's garbage. Should be $0.

If due to this disease that people cannot go out and vote, this is best for the country. Everyone needs to have he opportunity to vote.

So, in theory, they would need more money than the rest of the country. Eight percent is a lot of money. Gotta give NY more.

Absentee voting has always been an option.
Harvesting votes is a horrible idea.

Biden scared of another debate, says he wants to focus on the crisis, but where has he been for the last couple of weeks. Coward.

Sort of. The reason NY is imbalanced (and a handful of other states that are consistently imbalanced) is because they pay a greater portion of Federal taxes due to their economy. NY has a rich economy; so it's citizens pay more in federal taxes. When it comes time to dish out money, the government doesn't offer as much to "high salary" individuals, a lot of which you can find in NY.

So while it's citizens pay more in Federal tax, they also don't qualify for government assistance. Thus the imbalance. Poorer states you'll find, get more than they give. The system is designed for the rich states (those with more robust economies) to help pay for the poorer states (those with less robust economies). Socialist, in a way!

Which is why NY residents won't be "even" on a bill like this; a lot of them make more than $75K. Of course rent for a 400 square foot APT is like 4k a month ... so the dollar doesn't travel as far there.

I don't have that big of problem with mail voting or absentee voting, but what some are wanting is vote harvesting.
Vote harvesting is allowing people to go collect votes from those who don't leave their homes.
No way that should ever happen.

What happens if this virus isn’t defeated or if there is a fall flair up and voting is not available due to restrictions? Just punt this year?

Nah, if voting cannot happen due to this virus, make sure people have the chance to vote.

You worry about that in September. Not March.
