Great start to the season by Carter Kieboom!

No power yet but more importantly is showing a great batting eye and feel for the strike zone and he's using the whole field at the plate. Reached base 6 straight plate appearances!

Maybe even more impressively is he's actually looked pretty dang good on defense! Making some nice plays last night.

He does look more composed this year. Nice start!

I watched him play basically every day when he was at Potomac and he was usually the best player on the field... minus the couple of weeks that Soto was there... lol. He's a top prospect for a reason.

He had a cup of coffee in the league last year on a struggling team (at the time) that had the weight of the world on their shoulders. It would have been a tough spot for anybody, but everyone wanted to write him off as a bust.

I am so happy to see him getting comfortable. He's going to be a beast once he gets really comfortable.

And to add a card to the thread... picked this up a couple weeks ago...

I hadn't seen these cards since 2019...until this week.

Just back from PSA, very happy with how things turned out.

As a Nationals fan I like Carter. But sadly I don’t think he will ever get real cardboard love. Think Trea Turner.

I’m glad I dumped all of my Kieboom before the season.

This is an absurd overreaction to 44 AB's

Agreed. It's like people are looking for ways to doubt him. First it's his fielding and now it's his hitting because his fielding is good.

Normally I would agree with you, but this is his second stint in the majors, and he does not seem to have shown any improvement from last year.

And it's not like he showed a huge amount of offensive skill in the minors.

In 2018 he hit .280 with a .444 SLG, and in 2019 he hit .303 with a .479 SLG playing at Fresno, which is a hitters park in a hitters league using the juiced ball.

He's still young, so there's still time to improve, but he's looking like his future will be as the proverbial middle infielder who hits .280 with 10-15 HR, not a star.

I literally have no dog in this fight so I mean this when I say take a freaking step back.

He has 83 career AB's. Making these types of sweeping observations based off samples that small, especially with a 22 year old, is incredibly shortsighted.

Carter Kieboom recalled as everyday third baseman
Good. After such a horrible start, he's been recalled. I really hope he does well. More here

I know the Nats had a disappointing season, but I thought these were too cool to pass up. All five BC red refractor autos, his jersey number orange refractor auto, and his 1/1 superfractor non-auto. If only I could've done this with Juan Soto three years ago haha

I don't want to reopen old wounds but I just got back a 36 card order from PSA and I didn't have anywhere else to show them off. Maybe he will figure it out. Until he does, here's what i've got

Transcendent RC's /100

Heritage Black Chrome /69

Independence Day /76

Absolutely insane collections. Talk about cornering the market.

It's crazy how much his stuff has fallen. I know he sucked in the majors but $110 Gold BC Autos? $22 9.5 Base Auto?

What an amazing collection. I have a few of these in SGC slabs, but I can feel your pain right now - well, maybe only 5% of it. I hope he gets called up and goes on fire.

I've lost my stranglehold. Was at 100% at pop 3, now 50% at pop 8. Always a good idea to throw bad money after bad.

One of these just auctioned recently for $66. It was hard not to bid. I paid about double for this one, and sent it for grading myself. No regrets. I'll hold til the age 28 breakout. Or forever.

I still believe he will come around. May not be with the Nats, but his time will come.

When the Nats traded Giolito everyone had written him off to an extent, but he just needed a change of scenery.

I believe the same thing will happen with Carter if he gets traded.

In for a penny, in for a pound. This one just arrived this week.

Kieboom had Tommy John surgery today, so maybe 2024 will be the year. I'll be waiting

He's back.

1-3, HR yesterday in his 2023 debut.

I added this to my collection last month. Anyone seen the platinum?

Just goes to show how the hobby has a dark side. Good for him for still being active.
