If it is authentic that has an outside shot at a PSA 10.

I would be willing to bet PSA has never authenticated a fake of this card. I would like to see ANY PSA 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie #57 that is graded where a front and back scan can be seen to prove it as a fake. Also must be authenticated and graded by PSA and not some cartel. Please link one.

Fwiw, I am certain that the card in the original post is 100% counterfeit. It is not even one of the good fakes. You will definitely get your money back, but what a waste of time. Do not get your hopes up whatsoever. It is for certain DOA.

There’s no convincing him otherwise. When this card comes back from psa or bgs as a reprint he’s going to send them a letter explaining why it’s real.

Again, you all are hilarious.

I'll still post pics when it arrives (I dont know how I'm being unclear -- I've posted here because I am UNCERTAIN of the authenticity, i.e. no certainty one way or the other), but this has been generally useless and unhelpful save only 2 or 3 posters.

They started doing that on the fakes because it is not uncommon for real MJ's to have that misalignment. Dead giveaway on this one is the blue around the name at the bottom. Looks like it's colored with a crayon.

Hard to tell with this photo, but to my eyes, the basketball (bottom right/reverse) not looking good either.

Admittedly, the blue around the name is my biggest concern.

I spoke to the seller, and he says that he and his dad pulled it years ago directly from a pack.

We'll see.

In the photos he sent me, it looks like it has the basketball lines, but I will compare the ball to the ball on my Terry Teagle.

Thank you for the contribution!

An aspect of fakes that any novice can spot.. they are all centered with no print marks. The edges and corners are too sharp. Even Gems usually have some rough cut visible somewhere. Someone has a raw with gem centering, edges and corners, you are already at 99.9% chance fake. Seller may not know... but they probably do.

This card is not centered. Way off-center.

Maybe my eyesight is failing me.

It isn't 50/50, but I think it is within 45/55. Angle makes it tough. Possible when the creator cut it, they used the back as that does appear near 50/50.

Zero fish eyes, snow, or dots. I've never owned an 86 Fleer with edges that look like that. I wouldn't buy one either because I'd assume it was trimmed.

I honestly wouldn't bother and would try to cancel the order ASAP. It's been said time and time and time again. You want an MJ RC..buy PSA BGS SGC graded. And even be wary of some PSA cases because those have been faked as well. Unless it's in person and you have a real one to compare it to, it's not worth it. This happens like every single week on eBay.

I dont count my chickens before they hatch. It would be incredibly short-sighted of me to cancel the auction because I fear temporarily loss of money when I know im backed up by PayPal Buyer Protection. I will wait to inspect the item.

It seems more likely that if it were authenticated and graded by PSA, you would send them a letter explaining why you think it's a reprint and its grade should be revoked.

Actually, please do so. It may raise the value of the card. "The rogue 1/1 highly graded fake Jordan card." I'd consign it and make a fortune.

So you get the card, everything checks out on it and you send it to PSA. They come back and tell you it is trimmed or fake.

Are you still entitled to PayPal or eBay’s money back guarantee since it passed through a 3rd party?

Yes. PSA is an authenticator recognized by eBay/PayPal.

I bought a legit MJ RC one time and the seller mailed me a fake instead. I was advised to send it back and I would be refunded when the tracking indicated it was back . I sent it back and eBay still sided with the seller. I had to escalate and escalate and escalate and get them to pull the tape of the phone call advising me to return it before I was refunded. Yes, PP and eBay often or nearly always side with the buyer but this one is so clearly a fake why even bother. Everyone on the board is literally just trying to save you the hassle but ooook.

I bought a raw Jordan on eBay before. Sent it to BGS, it came back a 6.

Sounds like you dont have the best of luck.

Also, I had him send me a message thru eBay stating that the card was guaranteed authentic and unaltered. He did not hesitate. I have plenty of proof.

I don't know about this one. Seems once you send it off (into anyone's hands but your own) the refund becomes risky. I don't recall any language used by Ebay that endorses, "Sale not final until 3rd party reviews it".

Seller could also take the stance that the fake card being returned isn't the card he/she sold to the buyer.
