Agreed, there's better fakes openly being sold as "reprints" on eBay.

That really sucks... it's the little guys like me that get burned. Seems obvious when I go through this thread. Sure looks like a lot of fakes on ebay or for that fact everywhere.
Seller is teacher_jewels, they kindly refunded. Regardless, I believe that ebay buyer protection will cover you and side with you as a buyer. Last edited by pacman099; 03-01-2021 at 05:30 PM. |

Don't know if these are fake or legit, but they apparently have prominence (came directly from Jack Savage). My local LCS posted this. Do they look legit? |

Is there anyone in this thread that would be willing to take a look at a Chipper that I purchased? I want to have it in hand to get the best pics I can get. If anyone would be willing to take a look at it to let me know if it's legit, I would greatly appreciate it. If it isn't legit, I have avenues to return the card and get my money back, so I felt it was a low risk gamble.

Three Fake Nolan Ryan #1 PSA 9 & 10s— Cert 21463185, 21463186, 22104202
One of these originates with the psa.gems eBay account, which belonged to accused card doctor Kevin Burge. Whether he is the source of many of the bad Desert Shield cards in the marketplace needs to be investigated further. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Better to help out collectors on this forum then worry about counterfeiters reading this thread:
Desert Shield logo should be 13mm X 15 mm Desert Shield logo should have a rounded bottom Desert Shield logo should be "crisp" and not fuzzy The logo can be either goldish or slightly silver - both colors seem to be legitimate Stars on the Flag should not be fuzzy The card should be a Glow Back ie flouresce under UV light. The red 40th Anniversary should jump out under UV light The tip of the bottom most palm leaf should point between the "R & A" in " O P E R A T I O N"; fake logos have the word " OPERATION" shifted slightly to the left. I disagree and from discussion with the individual who posted the thread you posted, I ascertain that he would too. That thread was posted before the good counterfeits started coming to market and as a result, there really isn’t too much useful information in it.

It seems prudent to say counterfeiters are able to replicate any stamp.
If a “BODA Advisory” were issued, it might say “any parallel (graded or raw) relying on a stamp worth more than the price of grading ($25) should be considered suspect...since grading companies generally seem unable to detect fake stamps.”

I've been looking for a David Justice fake to add to my supercollection and I'm pretty sure I found it. The price is a bit out of my range, though.
