You may need to reconsider your definition of "tourist destination"...16.9 million visitors to Disneyland in 2022.

Would have been a valid comment for last year's show in Ontario.

never responded to this

but disneyland is the ONLY thing in Anaheim worth visiting - without it, it would be an absolute abyss

Ok, we might get sidetracked, but you can't do Knott's like that. Come on.

Oh yeah, the card show is pretty cool too.

ya I actually prefer knotts over disneyland - way more economical, but the fried chicken has gone downhill

Pretty busy today. Tons of people buying and comps were decent - some stuff that I hadn't updated in a few months actually went up. Overall, there seems to be some bumps but the market is not as bad as a lot of people think.

They are doing a Trade night right now, but I was done for the day. Picked up a few SGAs rookies, I think they are still kinda affordable and I think they win the title.

The market for singles is pretty good right now.

A big part of that is because Panini's carcass is slowly decaying and Fanatics aren't able to produce anything particularly great yet.

It should get very interesting when Fanatics ramps up

Pre-Wemby, post-Luka singles stink right now.

2019-2022 wax still being discounted, and essentially zero demand minis maybe goose.

It's because of these self-limiting conversations that limitations of prices in the hobby exist. I would rather hear organic to-the-moon theories.

I mean when was the last time someone found a one of a kind card in the wild and posted here?

The last time a Brunson breakout occurred (and you can't truly call a Bruh breakout anything if he hasn't ringed or medalled).

With old cards I like the raw finds and on the spot handling and grading aspects. With new cards, I enjoy the race. Right now, which teams exceeded expectations, going in? I would argue Mavs, Pacers, Wolves, and (grudgingly) Celtics. Team USA. Team France, Serbia, South Sudan, and Canada. I would accordingly look there for value and/or growth.

Singles investing is an approach, but realize it's always like this unless fans are truly excited about the game. So plenty time to take positions, have fun, build out a set or a rainbow. Sell it all complete at the right time (that is the grail). Or, if you can afford, keep.

I think the narrative in basketball has shifted more than people thing. Teams that weren't even in the conversation are coming in as dominant contenders. I see you, Minnesota, Indiana. Teams that should have collapsed on one person's weight didn't. I see you Kyrie, Lively, and Dallas. Teams that should have won finally did. And New York fell in love with a basketball team for the first time in a minute. These are all good for the hobby. They are not gonna get heavily heard on the West Coast, but they'll find their way.

Who knows. Portland picked up a real player or three and they really made it a close one with the Pacers (the one loss on the critical late season no-Hali roadtrip I didn't see coming). And Sacramento summarily rejected Ty's preemptive attempt at a hammy comeback.

Dealer had a $7500 circle sticker covering a severely damaged bottom right hand corner PSA authentic slabbed (first sign of trouble) 2022 NT Purdy RPA and allegedly didn't disclose the damage.

Buyer didn't even bother to inspect the card or question why it was slabbed authentic at the show and found out that the corner was severely dented after he got home.

Saw that... it was bad. Not a typical dinged corner that you would expect from a modern card graded "Authentic". The sticker was deliberately placed there to coverup the warped corner. I get "buyer beware", but the seller obviously did it to conceal the massive damage.

Other than that, though, the show was great. This is the best market I've seen in quite some time. The heat in the lower end is starting to creep up the latter to higher end stuff. Plus this show was just different than the National: a higher % of tables were higher end. Not great if you were there to search through dollar bins for 6 hours, but the amount of nice cards was staggering.
