Most teams won’t fire a coach for going to two Super Bowls and four NFC championships. Could be worse

I'm in agreement with those who have said to let a lot of these guys walk. You can win in this league with a great roster and a decent QB at a decent price. Too many teams think one guy (a QB) can lead them to a Super Bowl win. That's just not the case. No QB can will their team to the SB. It's best to invest throughout the roster and get a decently priced QB, than overspend on the position and have to constantly cut guys due to salary cap restrictions.

This will not work out for the Niners. Their roster is deteriorating, and Purdy, while good, does not have the skills to overcome their lack of talent. It would have been best to move on.
Ironically, the 49ers had that guy 2 years ago.... his name was Brock Purdy!

I haven't seen the breakdown on the Purdy contract. I wouldn't be surprised to see an out after year three. All of the 49ers big contracts either expire or have an out in 2026 or 2027. This tells me Shanahan has a two year window to get back to the Super Bowl. If not, you pull the rip cord with all the contracts, have a bunch dead money in 2028, and let a new regime rebuild. Whether you trade Purdy or not would obviously depend on how well he plays.

SF did the smart thing. They re signed Purdy AND Kittle. They have their WR corps minus Samuel coming back healthy. Hopefully CMC is healthy.
If everyone stays healthy, this team has a chance to win games and make the playoffs.

as long as Purdy can get rid of the ball in 2.2 seconds before he gets chased out of the pocket...
