I was kinda thinking that it wasn’t exactly a primo Gerrit Cole offering. But it sure is nice to see Vladdy swinging like he just lost 40 pounds. (18 kg for our Northern friends.)

Also, I was in born in 1977, so that gives me hope that I could still take the mound somewhere.

Oh, and he now has two bombs tonight. Valdez was still pitching, so take it for what it’s worth.

I’m stoked for Vladdy and his fitness regimen, but damn, I can’t imagine that frame from today’s footage with 40 extra pounds on it last fall...

Can he translate his HR derby into a season and then string a bunch of those seasons together? I sat in the seats in L field in Cleveland and his HR's were coming in hot vs. the loopers that Pete and Acuna hit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV-ewh3ek0g

smokes a double down the line and i mean, smokes it.

off a pitcher that isn't 100 years old throwing 80 by the looks of it.

then does a little dance.

a slimmer dancing Vlad is happy and very, very dangerous.

It’s always good to see Vlad dancing. But he’s capable of so much better:

I regret not picking up that Topps Chrome Superfractor. I was short $500...

For what it went for, I was content leaving it be. That's definitely a high risk high reward situation. I'd personally feel more comfortable spending that much on a less risky buy.

It was a Bodimir Guerchette mail day.

Unfortunately, the Bichette black has a major surface indention, so I might not be keeping it. But it sure is a nice card in-hand (even for a Rookie Debut).

I’m loving the Vladdy second-years (largely because I have a limited card budget these days).

I believe it sold for around $5k. With what people want for 2020 Rookie cards, it seemed like a bargain in retrospect. $15K-$35K for LouBob and another seller has a Yordan AU listed at $14K and apparently turned down $7.7k.

Can't go wrong with a pose like that AND the rookie cup. I think this one is currently burried in some grader's to-do pile...

It's numbered /10 on the back. I checked ebay and see some are numbered on the back in 2020 although Update seems to be on the front, so I didn't try to figure out if there's a pattern. 2019 was on the front, from what I saw during a quick search on ebay.

Me!!! Me!!! (That’s assuming you’re going to give me an off-season, pre-weight-loss discount, of course.)

Actually... Back when the regular Chrome superfractor was on ebay, I approached a couple of fellow Vlad collectors about purchasing the card and co-owning it. That would probably be a difficult arrangement to maintain, but I’d be curious to see what people’s thoughts are on that.

What if five or ten of us went in on this card? Could it work?

We’d have to figure out who would hold it and how to decide when to sell. So yeah, it could get really tricky. But on the flip side, at least more than one of us could say we own this Holy Grail of a card.

Call me crazy but buying these cards at $15-$20 seems like a no brainer to me.
