Would be nice to hear more about the breakup. Hopefully the federal investigation hasn't run it's course.

I'm curious who the new lawyer is.

From what I was told, it is a former prosecutor from the US Attorneys, who is in private practice now.

Do you know anything about what led to the swap of attorneys?

Curious if Brentsy was dropped as s client or did they replace Lichtman.

I don't think we're going to know. My best guess is Brent decided he wants to fight the charges, contrary to the basis on which as I understand it Jeff agreed to represent him which was to cooperate. But again, I don't know.

All that cooperating was just too much for him. And too expensive. Much easier to just resubmit all those trimmed cards to PSA.

It was news to Brentsy that they were ever guilty of anything. They did not believe it for a minute.

I imagine they were a difficult client.

Lots of evidence against them and they probably thought if they wrote a few checks that they would be off the hook. Their business grew during this time, grading companies seemed to also protect them by stating cards were graded accurately and everyone was making money.

I honestly believe they were compliant--they wrote checks, they ended auctions, they sent cards in for review, Brentsy even stopped doing interviews. I believe they were genuinely shocked that they would have to admit guilt.

I would be surprised if the nature of cooperation was not clearly explained from the get go. Now that said, they might have heard only what they wanted to hear. Or maybe others gave them different advice and they became emboldened.

Maybe they'll rightly end up in jail after all.

My comment was directed to the client, not the quality of the representation he got.

Brentsy also used multiple law firms in the class action case, so being a difficult client is certainly in the realm of possibility.

It is my experience that many people who have been successful in life have a hard time believing their lawyer knows better/more than they do.

from what i understand, lichtman is no longer pwcc's lawyer?

immediate thoughts on that are why?

did lichtman end it?
did pwcc run out of cash?
is the fbi done with looking into it?

the national is only a few weeks away. i wonder if we will see another display of fireworks.

Fantastic resource. Keep up the good work. It is projects like this one, fueled by BODA research, that will eventually change the corrupt hobby culture.
