Here's my take:

How hard is it to build a website, leverage AWS, payments, etc. Literally been done 1000s of times already. Not very hard to scale.

Otoh, verifying transactions on a blockchain is complicated and TPS is usually very low. I don't know much about the FLOW blockchain but any current blockchain that I'm aware of that wants to increase TPS is going to sacrifice either security, decentralization, or both (the blockchain trilemma).

My take on the "throttling" of buys & sells on the MP is that it's to allow transactions to verify on-chain. To that end, I'm not 100% sure what they'll be able to do to solve the problem in the short term.
The site traffic itself wasnt really the issue it was the constant pinging of people trying to checkout. Panini had the same issues when theyd release FOTL products as FCFS. The thing is, once the FOTL product sells out the pinging stops and things are able to go back to normal. In TS’s case that pinging never stops. You can see how this is a clear issue and something massive needed be done to mitigate the constant bottlenecking during checkout.

I am going to assume since the MP didn't open up after the packs yesterday that there are still a ton of flippers that are looking to sell them immediately because they are very impatient so I'd expect them to fall first before going back up when they are done.

It’s amazing to me when people think scaling infrastructure is as easy as snapping your fingers lol.

Clearly haven’t worked with any large scale IT infrastructure in the real world

Now that I think about it, we might not see as many deals with the 2 hour cool down as I thought, the deals get insane with the flippers because they see that they were undercut so they delist and undercut again all the way down. Now they will be forced to stick with their price and I think there are decent amount of buyers so it won't snowball too fast. Going to be interesting.

THIS. Im actually quite impressed at how quick they are able to implement these changes and are trying to get things up and running so quick. I was thinking a week atleast.

Clearly I haven't. But it's not my job to know this. It literally IS the Top Shots team's jobs. When you have the sway to get the NBA licensing, I kind of expect you to be able to handle the heavy burden of people throwing millions of dollars at you. Right now, they are costing themselves millions of dollars in perpetuity. The same internet that makes you an icon will make you a meme in a heartbeat if you can't deliver on your promises.

I rolled with the punches for a while but it does get frustrating when the issues seem to be getting worse rather than better and the band-aids keep getting bigger.

You have every right to be upset but I’ve seen this sentiment from a TON of people

CI/CD (continuous integration continuous delivery) is one thing for software development and rolling out new features but not really possible with hardware depending on what their current operation looks like.

I mean they could have everything hosted on prem which makes it basically impossible to scale anything with speed. Hiring good people also takes a ton of time and effort.

TS tried to do way too much way too quickly and it’s becoming a disaster

Well said. I would add "trustworthy" to your sentiment regarding hiring good people.

I’m seeing Seeing Stars skyrocketing but S1/S2 staying pretty much the same. Equally good and bad for my port.

Can’t even buy yet. Super lame. I’m usually as big of a top shot shill as they make, but they this one super wrong.

So has anyone on here been able to buy or sell moments yet?

Rising stars are going crazy right now, people just need to hold the line when listing right now

I’m actually a fan of it. This prevents massive undercutting. Moments were literally losing 50% value in 5 minutes before this.

And like others have stressed: this is temporary to at least get some momentum going in the MP. It obviously wasn’t going to work in free-for-all mode.

I'm seeing $700 for the Deni. And I see $1k on your Herro. Are you going to sell or hold on your Herro? I am heavily debating just listing my Deni when I get the chance

FWIW, withdrawing basically all of the Dapper I have which is probably 50% of the money I have in play here (well past profit at this point). I was bullish, but I think there are pretty clear reasons to be concerned as to whether they can ever properly scale on the Flow blockchain. Worse, the team is just kind of not great for being in charge of a multi-billion dollar market as evidenced by most of their decision making. Not to mention the now sketchily banning accounts for off market deals which have been and should still be perfectly fine. Pretty confident someone will execute this idea substantially better down the line.

This is key. I can't imagine what a nightmare working on the infrastructure for them must be. Every day is a struggle.

I'm more pissed at the fact that they are actively banning people for off-site transactions when they can't do on-site ones. Can't they just wait a few weeks?

People have been buying for at least the last thirty minutes.

That’s just a market being the market. Intervention is manipulation.

Oh are they already banning people for off-site transactions? Oh wow the "community managers" are posting links to report people for scamming. I bet they will have something in place for off-line transactions soon as well. I would be careful selling here from now on.
Also does having the 600th Deni give it any premium, or no because these moments are mostly bought for the challenge?

Nope, don't think so. This is going to drag on for awhile.
