The real winners were the people that opened and graded Chronicles/Status LAST YEAR and used the PSA bulk prices $8 each...those are the winners of all this!

Just recently picked up a Luka PSA 10 Chronicles Chrome Purple /49. Figured this would be one of the last times I'd be able to get a numbered, shiny, chromey, Luka RC for under $800.

Wish I could rewind time. What I regret the most is that I brushed off a lot of products without doing any research. In the fall when things got hot I was able to grab a bunch of Chronicles at Walmart and Target. But passed on Status because I thought it was junk. So stupid.

Wish we could all do that. Back then, there was no stalking excell reps or cleaning out displays. There were just blasters and hangers...hanging around!

I passed on many hangers of status because, like you, thought they would be junk.

But, I wised up and went back and got all the chronicles and status I could find.

Luckily, most cards in these two sets grade really well, so that helped!

Yep. I didn't know too much about basketball and did the same. Everyone here was saying buy Chronicles and leave Status for the kids. Granted, I'm glad I bought the Chronicles because I have a ton of Lukas. Just wish I didn't leave any for the kids

I can't believe what PSA 9s & 10s sell for from 2018-19 Threads & Status. Stuff has taken off last few months. A sneaky good parallel are the Panini Threads Gold & Green Dazzle parallels. The key players rarely pop up especially the true base version (not the ugly jersey cards in the background).

Yeah, many like the clean and simple design of both sets.

I don't think there is any basketball product that hasn't taken off in popularity! The sky is the limit!!!

Funny you should say that. I picked up a hanger with a big clearance sticker on it a year ago. At that point I had no idea what Status even was. Hit a Luka parallel and have been hooked since.

Only thing I really passed on was Threads until the very end when the other retail stuff dried up. If only chronicles non-chrome graded better. VEEY hard to gem those with the blue borders. Flaking shows easy under 8X magnification.

It's absolutely unbelievable in a good way. True gems from that set are hard to come by (perfectly centered without lines). Hopefully the Blue Velocity continues to shoot up as well. Crazy low pop on all the 2018-19 Optic stuff.

There’s roughly 11% more 2018 optic graded at PSA vs Luka base Prizm graded at PSA. That’s all 2018 optic at 20k vs Luka base Prizm at 18k. That’s crazy!!!

Same, more than $1000 makes sense with the gem rate being so low. But $1800 seemed crazy!

Crazy to think I bought 3 of these last October for $50 each...

Honestly, I still think 18-19 Status is kind of a trash product. Not necessarily the rookies, but the base vets just remind me of 90s junk. The full body crop out and the weird bubble backgrounds just don't do it for me for the vets and rookies.

Clearly, the market says it's not a trash product - but just visually for me - no thanks.

Optic for me are sent in if centered nicely, but I have gone 1/3 with one more at PSA and 2 that the centering looks off so will not send. I did grade early on chronicles and it was a 9 fest. I still have ungraded about

Optic Blue Velocity was one of my “sleeper picks” if you can call it that, as Lukas Chronicles Blue stuff started to really take off. Sure enough they have started a pretty rapid ascent. I’m looking to move a couple of mine to fund other stuff, but don’t want to sell too early.

I just dove a bit deeper into the Luka pond and picked up a few bigger Select cards. Hopefully this trend continues. Unlike most things in my collection I pretty much bought these with the intent to move them in the future.

Blue Velocity are nice, and you will do well, but Chronicles Blues, especially the shiny versions, are in a class of their own.

Yeah definitely not knocking Chronicles blues. I love the look and serial numbers as well, they just jumped out of my range before I had the sense to scoop some up.

I jump d on those early, but was too cheap to get a Phoenix when they were in the $300 raw range. Never really cared for the studio because of the white border. Thought crusade would run up first because of history. I was wrong, but did get a Titanium /77. Hoping for a PSA 9.

The base vets are not good. But now LeBron PSA 10 is over $100. Corners tend to be dinged though.

The rest of the product is excellent. And damn if it’s not a great value break even at current prices.
