Went out to Party City in another part of Birmingham last weekend and found 9 Fat Packs near the front of the store buried amongst Pokemon packs. Opened 4 of the packs this morning...so glad I went searching!

Unreal hits! Hunting for 18' update has been alot of fun over the past year. Theyre completely gone in the Boston area, but I did find 19 packs when word originally broke about big lots and hit the Acuna variation you nailed.
PSA 10s are over $500 for it now |

Just moved about 20 miles further north in NJ. Guess that means I’m 20 miles closer to the places that were 20 miles too far to go check, so I’ll have to make a round in the next few days and see what i can find around here.

I remember that my LCS (before it closed for good) had it for $50 per hobby box. I would rip packs and boxes. Got like 20 Acuna and Soto RC Soto Salute Gold #8/50 Soto RC US300 Black #8/67 Soto RC US104 Foil Acuna Salute Auto Acuna RC US252 Gold #/2018 Torres RC US99 Gold #/2018 & Foil And many others but those were the best of my rips

Is there crazy price manipulation out there? For example -buy at a bloated price, sell their stash at the same bloated price and then return the purchases? I don’t sell at all but I’m sitting on about 30 hangers 15 blasters 30 raw Acuña/Torres a few Soto’s including an SP horizontal and Torres gold. I’m feeling like it’s time to sell or grade or both. But does it all get returned in 3 months? The prices just don’t seem realistic. This is the only issue I’ve ever bought as an investment is its way beyond what I imagined at this point.

I returned to card collecting in 2018. I opened S2, Update, Holiday, Optic from retail and A+G Hobby Boxes, Chrome Update Hobby.
I didn't open anything in 2019 because the rookies didn't really excite me and I didn't get to goto the USA in 2019. When I went back to evaluate what to open this year the answer was without a doubt 2018 update. You can't beat the 2018 rookie class with Acuna, Soto, Devers, Torres. I also think the expected value is better than anything else you could open at the moment and the wax price hasn't adjusted fast enough to the RCs rise. US 250s pushing 300. You could probably make your money back with just the RCs not to mention hits, foils, SP, etc. I'm an expat so only get to really come home once a year to open. I have 20 fat packs, 3 hanger boxes, 6 blaster boxes, 1 jumbo hobby, 1 hobby waiting. I'm going to rip them around the 17th or 18th hopefully if I can get this trip booked. |
