It does seem odd for sure. Couple that with the other wacky stuff coming from consignments with LeBron cards lately and I am leery.

In other news I got the 17-18 Giannis base on the way.

Just a few more to go now!

The LeBron Vortex currently up on Ebay has a dinged corner. That could be the reason why it's sitting at $999 OBO. But the $2505 LeBron auction looks suspect to me.

Ah.. my b. I didn’t actually check the newer Vortex auction. But yeah.. the $2,505 sale looks off. You bid $2,501 or whatever with 14 mins left, you KNOW the max is $2,505, and you don’t try to bid higher to win? Nah... just nah. Again.. unless my interpretation of the bidding is off. I’m not a very good detective.

Just checked the pop report and there are 9 graded (7 of them 9.5 and 2 of them 9). The 'worst' 9 has three 9 sub-grades and 9.5 centering which is still fine in my book. Definitely strange they wouldn't want to show it as a 9.

I can't speak to the $2501 bid, but mine was the winning bid with 3 seconds to go. It's a legit sale. I was hoping to get the card for much less, but put in the price above which I would feel comfortable letting it go.

I'm pretty sure it didn't get bid up past $1,500 until the last few seconds. I had some concern about the $2,501 being a shill bid, but would think someone wanting to shill would bid $2,499 instead. Seems fine.

I asked the seller if it was graded but of course I got no response. I guess his plan is to crack the case if it sells?

Sucks bc is like to get my hands on it

Lol, I was watching that card too. But decided against it because too much of a risk. Especially with the fact on why he would hide the grade labels.

In my opinion, Galactic looks better than the Futura.

Thats a nice pickup. IMO bases from this year look better in Lava/Cosmic than galactic with the way the design is. Galactic just doesn't really showcase well in that mesh of lines and such. Also the blue foil is so sexy.

Want to pick one up but hard to judge the going rate on a particular RC from 15-16? Don’t want to over pay...lol

I've been bidding on a lot of lebron, golds and galactics, I put in bids where I'd normally guarantee myself a win but I keep getting outbidded now...
Its been tough winning them these days, lots of demand out bidding me.

Maybe just money coming back after getting tapped out over the holidays? I dunno, just a wild guess.

Can’t help you on a particular card, but I paid around $40-$50 for the Curry I have.

Seller responded said it wasn’t graded. I call BS and he will crack once it’s sold. Too bad, I’m steering clear

I’d gladly buy a 9 of any card I was after. But I wouldn’t buy anything from a seller that I knew was lying to me. That’s a bummer.

Few more added! The Wall and McCaw I got for less than $20, total. I can't believe how hard Wall stuff has crashed. Poor guy.

LeBron galactics going through the roof right now. Been trying to pick one up with no luck. I paid about $350 for a vortex galactic about a year ago, now it sells for 1k? Idk if these prices will hold.

Methinks a lot of people are speculating on these quite a bit. Doubt it is that many people PCing driving up prices this high. More "prices are going up so we are going to load up on these and dump them when it reaches a high point."

That may be true for some, but I can tell you that I have won a number of the recent high auctions and I plan to lock them away for the next 20 years or so until I am ready to retire. You will not see at least my copies show up for a long time.

Here's the thing motivating me - there are only ~95 Galactics of LeBron in his Cavs jersey and no more will ever be made. People are excited about LeBron in his Lakers jersey, but frankly the action shots are hokey and my bet is that people will view the Lakers era in a similar way to how we look back at MJ in his Wizards jersey. LeBron in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 was at the height of his powers. His yearly battles with the Warriors, the "Block", bringing a "ship" to the Land, etc. are the things that people will look back on in 20 years when thinking about his legacy. The Heat years were cool and all, but I don't see people getting jazzed up about LeBron cards in a Heat jersey.

We're a little bit in apples to oranges land, but imagine if MJ had only ~95 Galactics in a Bulls jersey (across multiple base and insert sets) that lined up perfectly with the years of his second three-peat. The prices on those cards today would be bonkers....

Frankly, I am speaking against my own interest here because I would like to pick up a few more, but given that I've been the high bidder in the last several LeBron auctions, I wanted to correct the misconception.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get in on the action sooner like the other wise folks in this thread.
