Hah, yea the MM threads can run together on here.

Since I’m posting in here…picked up a new “error card” recently. Not an error at all of course but just an error slab- someone at PSA put the card upside down in the slab….probably one of the silliest things ever to collect, but anything quite rare and MM-related like this I will be going after. With these “upside down slabs”, I refuse to pay much more than going rate of the slab, as it really is only a silly little thing PSA did (and they can do it as much as they want at anytime to drastically affect supply, although I doubt they would intentionally do it). I do see how it’s possible someone got this 95MM Spider-Man canvas upside down…since it’s already upside down!

The only 3 “upside down PSA” MM slabs I have.

And also on the topic of 95MM…an interesting addition. First I’ve seen this type of “dealer kit” for 95MM.

Some of this stuff has been seen before with the more common dealer folders- the sell sheet, checklist page, and 4-up promo. The product ordering sheet is different, but the main reason I bought this was the mailing envelope itself- this has to almost never been seen, most dealers would have trashed this:

The other 2 dealer kits for 95MM shown below…(“Type A” and “Type B”…first has a more summarized survey sheet, second has more verbose prosey-sheets describing the set and its merits).

What’s in common between all 3 dealer kits: they all have the same sell sheet pamphlet, 4-up promo, and set checklist. The ordering and info pages differ.

For those wondering, a 6-box case of 95MM cost about $400 and a 18-box case about $1200 for dealers back in 95MM, working out to about $67 a box. Now a single hobby box goes for about $2000!

Was gonna bump the MM20 set thread but I’ll post it here. Latest pickup, a MM20 Palumbo uncut base sheet. You see MM22 and MM24 uncut sheets floating around on the market, but rarely ever a MM20.

Out of the new MM sets, I’m just missing an MM18 Bianchi sheet…(anyone have one?)

Someone posted over in the FB group a pull that is probably up there in the craziest pulls I’ve ever seen in marvel cards.

Out of a random 2008 Marvel Masterpieces series 2 box…out came a full-fledged pack pulled Nar sketch…and not just any Nar, but of Wolverine. (Interestingly the box had 3 sketches in it also, which is unusual). But just to think… a Nar sketch sitting in that box all this time, since 2008! Possibly never would have been seen if someone decided to just keep that box sealed.

Here’s the pic (I won’t post his pic of the card, just the scan posted way back in 2008 on the scoundrels art forum when Nar’s scans were posted…this just a small portion of them. Wolverine pulled is at bottom right)

I know there’s been some crazy pulls even recently, like the Marvel Masterpieces 92 Platinum golden treasures Spider-Man 1/1, and even more recently a gold Spidey PMG 1/1 from another set….this one really stands out the most to me though.

Here’s my lone Nar sketch from MM07…not exactly Wolverine!

Nar!

I love it. While the Wolverine is obviously worth a lot more, random/underused characters are cool to have.

How many Wolverine sketches are floating around out there? Thousands, for sure... How many Leader sketches are there? Very few, I'd guess.

I picked this one up in a trade recently and while I was thinking I wanted to sell it, I decided it deserved a spot in the closet, on a shelf

Not quite on the Nar level, value wise, but a good Perna is close

You also don't see a TON of Tigra sketches, though there are probably more of her than Leader

Cool Nar and cool story!

Andddddd I should have mentioned that the Perna is from 22MM...not just randomly hijacking your post to post my non-MM sketch card

A beaut! Tony Perna is great and you don’t see his sketches in MM sets all that much. That’s a keeper

True about the lesser know characters. The market will still pay the most for a Wolverine hands down, but obscure characters have their charm. Also give it to artists like Nar and Perna- they make even the characters like Leader and Tigra look interesting and cool. I think that says a lot.

That is a cool sketch -- comic book worthy.

Very cool to see the Venom's all side by side like that. I've literally never seen an XXL card in person, so this is the first time I've realized just how BIG they are. Wow. Haha. Makes me wonder what the box(packaging) looked like...

That /25 is a massive card and very cool

Is the XXL numbered? How do you store it in that massive slab? Looks like it'd take up a lot of real estate haha

Love the Venom display! Great choice of card to rainbow.

Yep the XL gallery reds should also be /25 on the back I think. (Also that is what the MM16 “red gallery’s” should have looked like with the actual red borders…somehow ended up with silver borders in the OG set).

I've seen not one specific to MM, but I think Marvel Metal. I imagine that any folders sent to retailers arrived in these thematic envelopes, including retailer ordering sheets (which of course, usually got sent back to distributor so a much more rare item in the folder in today's market).

Yep spot on- that would explain their rarity in the market today. Either sent back in or discarded most likely.

I have also seen one of those “retailer” envelopes in the wild for 1995 FUSM (had it but sadly have since moved it in a decision to focus on just MM). This is to be contrasted with the more typical “dealer folders” which were actual folders.

Thanks -- yeah, it's numbered out of 25 and it's hard to store it. I just lay it flat on top of the regular-sized cards in top-loaders that are upright .

Not that anyone would care much about this, but I found a different version retailer folder for 94MM. As expected, it contains the same outer folder, sell sheet and 9-up promo, but just differs in the product info pages. I’m starting to think there was a decent variety of these folders for most of the sets- not just 1 or even 2. Fleer probably had various different types made, perhaps for different regions or at different times along the production…or possibly depending on the type of dealer.

In the new folder, this caught my eye

In the TDS channel of release (no that’s not a political term…it’s referring to the Jumbo packs with 14 cards) it was originally supposed to have silver holofoils, and the gold holofoils were going to be in hobby. That was clearly switched in the final release, with silver in hobby.

That's a peculiar find! It also (likely) explains the "red holofoil" language for the bronze!

Yes noticed that too! They are definitely not red holofoils, haha.

Hmm maybe gold holofoils wouldn’t have been bad as the more common hobby ones. Wouldn’t really make sense to, but they look cool. (It’s all psychological though..if they did do it that way, we’d be coveting the silvers more).

This product info page must have been very preliminary. I’m pretty sure hobby cases also weren’t 20 boxes for MM94, they were 10 boxes.

Hi, friends!
Just on case anyone is interested, I'm selling on ebay my Master Set of Marvel Masterpieces 2018. It includes regular base 1-81 cards, epic purple 82-90 cards, and canvas set. Also, it includes what if 1-81, full battle spectra and full holofoil sets.
It includes certified shipping, keeping in mind I will help as much as I can to help shipping to USA (I live in Europe).

This came back today… not the best grade though…

Side note… Jusko is listed as a variant comic cover artist for FF6 and FF7 preorders. Not sure if new art or if it will be MM stuff but Dyna, you might want to take a look. Currently when I search the image of actual cover is not available yet.

Woahh nice alpha for a /1999.

Thanks for the heads up on the Jusko variants. Interested to see what they are. If it’s only for 2 issues I would lean towards he did new art, which should be cool. If it happens to be MM, it’ll be something else to pick up of course!

My guess is it will be four covers…. With the last two not being solicited yet.
