Should have been his second of the night. First at-bat missed by inches.

And they get the series win over the Yankees. Ohtani responsible for 5 of the 7 Angels runs in their 2 victories. Heck of a start by Sandy as well.

Updated 2013 BBM family photo...just got the green wing back from SGC...I was hoping maybe it would get a 9 but I'm not shocked by the 8.5. Just glad to have it.

^ Those Japanese BBM cards are pretty cool. But it's always a wonder to me as to why the fronts are always in English texts. Who are they mainly trying to cater to if not the Japanese market?

I spent a month in Japan in 2007 and thought it would be cool to bring back a shirt for my nephew with kanji on it...and I struggled to find one. I was staying out in the sticks and even at the local grocery store most of the signs were in English. Even their baseball teams' logos, jerseys, etc are in English.

Why it's this way I can't say, if it's some artifact of the war or just the fact that Western/American culture is so dominant, or some combination of multiple factors.

It's because baseball was copied there from the US so they adopted the English to go with it. Western/American culture barely exists outside of that from my experience in Tokyo

^ Pretty much what those two said. Japan admires western culture so they've adopted and adapted baseball, but try to maintain the authenticity. A lot of baseball terminology uses English phonetics and Japanese interchangeably.

Other examples of western culture adoption: Numerous comic inspired Manga/Anime series, fast food, tennis (Osaka), golf (Matsuyama), basketball (back to anime - Slam Dunk, Kuroko, etc.), required highschool English classes (yes, they are required to learn some English).

Has this "texashobbieshop" guy been talked about already? He's selling this 2018 TC auto that's over $1200 and says "Reprint/replica"...does it pass the authenticity guarantee if it states replica? Either way he's going to wind up with one pissed off buyer. Why do people do this? I'd also be curious where these are coming from and how convincing they are.

In addition to what others have said:
English is considered cool in Japan. Japanese culture has a fascination with western cultures such as America and Europe, similar to American fascination with foreign or "exotic" cultures. So many T-shirts in Japan are sold with English text on it that makes no grammatical sense, but nobody cares about the meaning for the most part. Just having the English characters is seen as fashionable. Not unlike Americans getting tattoos of Kanji characters for similar reasons

Source: I am half Japanese and used to find many shirts with funny English on them in Japan just to bring home for laughs.
Sometimes it's not the grammar but the phonetic spelling that's off.
Back in the day I picked up a MLB shirt in Japan that said "Creaveland Indians" lmao wish I still had it

These are a couple of my favorites from my trip to Japan.

This one is just amazing.

This one cracked me up because it was a kid wearing it.

I also remember going in to a toy shop in Tokyo and they were blasting some (American) hardcore gangsta rap with every bad word in the book. Being in a toy store surrounded by kids with that music playing was quite an experience.
